Did ANYONE think that Trump was going to actually impose a 50% tariff on the EU?
So if everyone knows it's a bluff, then it becomes meaningless. Other than screwing with businesses and markets.
Right?

Define the goals specifically.

The goals are different per country
But the 10% baseline (when we were at 4%) and high end manufacturing seem to be a big part

Well then why are you criticizing him?
Are you in a cult? You don't think constructive criticism is ok?

Any criticism of Donald J Trump, The President of the United States of America is an attack. With the challenges he faces, there's no such thing as constructive criticism. To criticize is to obstruct. MAGA doesn't obstruct.
So if you're MAGA (I doubt you are) then stop obstructing the greatest President in American history. Everything he says and does is 100% correct, and even when it's not, it still is.
So just stop it.

I really dont understand some on this board. When you have a trade deficit, the other entry is cash. When trillions of cash keep leaving the country it shows up as debt, or selling of assets, both of which are glaringly evident.

I just wish he had laser focused on China instead of the other 180+ countries. The whole initiative seems scattershot.

Kevin O'Leary had it right Trump should have put a 300% or 400% Tariff on China only and told other countries if they don't come to the negotiating table they will be getting the same treatment. There was no reason to tariff the whole world.

With the EU it is less about imbalance, especially when you get to the individual country level, and about protectionist policies.
When a Norwegian oil rigging sitting off Venice can't by a standard electric motor and is required to source from a EU country or Canada, then they've joined the ranks of China.

The EU people came out and said this. They want to make a great deal but they need a month so frick off. It’s coming out of THEIR mouths

How much more in "taxes" have you paid due to evil tariffs?

He has said from day one bringing manufacturing back wasn’t about jobs because it will be automated - it’s about not having to rely on our biggest enemy frill our crap - people just don’t listen or read what he says

No, we do. No one believes him anymore.
Trump says a lot of shite he doesnt mean. Most of us understand that by now.
He has no plan for his tariffs. His only plan is to increase his perceived importance by "negotiating" and apparently no one is buying his bluffing anymore.

Where is the numbers. We have lots of predictions, all of them bad... but have not seen it in real number. Not the administration's 'marketing' and not in the 'experts' guess.... where are the numbers proving that the tariffs are going to drive inflation through the roof?
