Can someone please explain how SS is labeled an "entitlement" ? I along with my employer(s) paid more into SS than I will receive but the gummit pissed it away.

The federal government spent $2.87 trillion on transfers to individuals in 2017, accounting for 72.2 percent of federal spending.
As federal investments have declined as a percent of total outlays over the past five decades, federal transfers have risen at an even faster rate. Whereas transfers accounted for 28 percent of federal spending in 1962, they accounted for 72 percent of spending in 2017.

Actually your tax dollars are paying for it, your kids(and grandkids, etc.) tax dollars will be.
But very much agree with your overall point.
