So only 59.9% of households in the US pay any income tax.

40.1% is a start. Need to get that number up to 100%.

I believe that number circulated by the likes of Pew and Brookings is actually a low estimate. E.g., The (nonpartisan) Tax Policy Center estimates for 2022 held that 57% of the population paid no federal income tax.

When you factor in tax credits, only about half of the households in the US pay any income tax at all. So only 59.9% of households in the US pay any income tax.

If this is data reported by the government then the real number is over 50% that pay no income taxes. This align with the R/D political divide.

That’s crazy. I’m poor and I still pay income taxes.

This. I have no problem with people not paying taxes. I want to be one of them. The real problem is the existence of the IRS, the social engineering done through the tax code and the hours of time and costs of compliance.

Temporary help? Sure. But we have multiple generations of people who subsist off of the govt. You should not be in favor of that.

Well, we shouldn’t be paying any income tax at all.
