Voters typically have certain aspects on either side that they like. Many Democrats believe in gun rights and working for a living, contrary to what hard righters think. Many GOP believes in some form of governmental safety net (SS, welfare, etc.) and liberal attitudes for sex/marriage vice versa.
I'll have to read the full link, but this could be a reflection of how Black voters feel about the economy. That is a major issue that can sway voters, but people have more than one issue to vote on.
I'm not saying we won't see a difference in turnout. I am saying that one variable, even a big one like the economy, is not the only factor in deciding votes.
