Bavarian Nordic vaccine linked to 4% breakthrough cases

quote:

A new preprint study from France on breakthrough monkeypox cases in people vaccinated with Bavarian Nordic's Imvanex (known in the United States as Jynneos) shows 4% of vaccinated recipients had breakthrough infections, none severe.

So they claim the side effects aren't severe while also also admitting that the vaccine itself has given them the very infection it was intended to protect them from.

My guess is that a lot of the people seeking the vaccine already have HIV. They're susceptible to breakthrough infections since it's an attenuated virus vaccine.

fyi, that's not what a breakthrough infection is.

No doubt there are lies being told about how this is spreading. But, the details of that article don't say that the vaccine is causing infections.

A breakthrough infection doesn’t mean the vaccine caused the infection, the statements at your link to the contrary notwithstanding.

So are you claiming now that the smallpox vaccines don't work? Aren't real vaccines?

Exactly. The author in OPs article is either incredibly stupid or being intentionally misinforming.

The study is even linked and is like 2 pages. Only idiots would parrot the talking points from this insane OP.

It seems to me that it would be better to avoid gay buttsex than to get the vaccine.

No, That’s not what this means! Hell, it’s impossible to discuss vaccines on this board because it’s simply too complex for most of the posters.

The breakthrough cases are not caused by the vaccine; they happen IN SPITE OF the vaccine. That is a very different concept.
quote:

Between May 27th and July 13th, 2022, 276 individuals received one dose of IMVANEX® with a median delay of 11 days [IQR 8-14] after exposure with a confirmed Monkeypox patient. Mode of exposure was droplets for 240 patients (91%), indirect contact for 189 (71%) and unprotected sexual intercourse for 146 (54%). Most of the patients were men (91%, n=250) and men who have sex with men (88%, n=233). The vaccine was well tolerated with no severe adverse event. Among the 276 vaccinated individuals, 12 (4%) had a confirmed Monkeypox breakthrough infection with no severe infection. Ten out of 12 patients developed a Monkeypox infection in the five days following vaccination and two had a breakthrough infection at 22 and 25 days. Conclusion EPRV with a third-generation smallpox vaccine was well tolerated and effective against Monkeypox but did not completely prevent breakthrough infections.

Note that the patients were exposed to Monkeypox infections, some by buttfricking THAT’s how they caught it, not from the vaccine.

So let me understand, 4. % from the vaccine, 95% gay men, where’s the 1% coming from, or is this a rounding era

No it is stating that 4% of the people that were vaccinated got the disease, they didn't state that the vaccine gave them the disease, just that they weren't completely immune.

OP then drew his own conclusion of what caused them to get infected.

This is how easily misinformation is spread.

You’re trolling. There’s no way you are this confused.
It’s 0% from the vaccine. The 4% is the percentage of vaccinated who had breakthrough infections. They didn’t get the infections from the vaccines; they got them from buggering infected men.

The 1% you are curious about is a creation of your poor maths mind. (BTW, I put the “s” on the end because I’m in the UK right now, and that’s how they do it.) The percentage of breakthrough infections plus the percentage who caught it from gay men are not supposed to be added together. That’s like saying 49% of Americans are men, and 3% of Americans are redheads, so where is the other 48%?
