We should bookmark this one and check back in five years to see how "certainly" this happened.

My test on this is do I or any of my friends have a clue how to use it, and if not, then lol good luck Mexican immigrant. I don't.

I bet Trump can do it for under $15 bil. This $25 bil garbage is just media spin.
Ok, go to a contractor, tell them you want a 30 foot tall 10 foot wide concrete and brick wall, and say you'll pay them 12 million a mile. They'll tell you to frick off. It'd take at least twice that (maybe even three) for me to even consider it.

Well I was only half serious there but yeah I still don't see it. If it is as high as 15%, sure I could see alternative methods employed via offshoring at some Latin country conducive to such maneuvering. It's still going to be in the billions which is enough since you know the goalposts will move.

Why not? Both are just structures designed to keep people out. One is just a lot bigger and more expensive. But the idea is the same. Why wouldn't it be?
If you're against the wall bc of the cost or don't think it'll work, that's fine and you might be right. But a lot of people are arguing along morality or perception lines. "What message does it send Mexico and other countries?" "It's unamerican!" Etc etc

The difference is that a lot of property owners don't want it built. They fought tooth and nail the first time around and they're going to do it again.

Even at 25 billion it's cheap compared to what illegal immigration is costing tax payers and the potential national security risk can't be measured.

It's called interest $$ from Mexico when they pay the U.S. back. That's what it will cost them. You don't think also the U.S. can save billons by shutting illegals to come into our homeland? The wall will pay for itself.

Why is this so hard to figure out a solution for. Round up the illegals who need to be deported, not all illegals, but anyone undocumented and who have not tried, and make them build the wall. Then, upon satisfactory completion, they can choose a side of the wall to be a citizen of, win/win.

I challenge any person who is for the Wall to do this: approach a contractor and ask if they would build 30 foot tall 10 foot wide mile long wall for less than 20 million dollars. I guarantee you'll get a "frick no" from all of them.

Why do I keep hearing $25 Billion. Can these people not do math? That's $12.8 million per mile. There's no way it will cost anyway near that.
I just don't even know what to say. Property rights, and inaccessibility make the length of this thing moronic beyond belief. Maintenance? Even if this were done, people with any funds would go under or travel to Canada and pass there.

Property owners bitch all the time about construction projects. That's why the government has eminent domain. It just takes a lot of money and willpower.

Minefield would be my choice. Goes down fast and little maintenance. Listen for boom and go check it out.

As a GC, I could build it for around $5MIL/mile using block and concrete.

It's happened for years longer than I have been here. It's called infrastructure. In this case it's called defending your country.
