I have some idea. I feel confident saying your response isn't proportional to actually believing babies are being murdered.
Just War Theory.

Were discussing abortion, which includes zygotes.
I was discussing something with someone else. That "something" we were discussing was the effects of abortion on poverty and whether or not one is truly being compassionate to ban abortion while not doing anything to help the parent(s) after birth.

The argument was that it's more compassionate to kill children in the womb than to allow them and their mothers to live in poverty. I applied that same reasoning to the homeless, sick, and other groups that suffer in this life.

Good for you. It's a discussion board.

Which leads back to exactly where I took it.

ok so before Russia invaded Ukraine you were all for tax dollars going to women who needed help, not calling them welfare queens etc?

You don’t think there’s a difference between women needing help & welfare queens?

I would bet the majority do not find a difference when talking abortion or government spending. They find it convenient to keep them inclusive.

We’ve reached the point in the “discussion” where you jump the shark and stop any attempt at good-faith conversation, so I’m done with you for now.

Until next time…

Hey, look. Foo ran out of points again.

See you next time.

But not real war.

Fake war, like the war on Target or Christmas.

There are plenty of reasons to believe abortion is a net negative for society apart from religion/inherent value.

Cars have no inherent moral value but it’s very easy to explain why it would be bad for society if it were legal to just take a sledgehammer to random vehicles.

This is a bald faced lie. Bad Orange Man doubled the child tax credit and made it refundable for the first time.

ETA: I think you agree with me - you were quoting, nor makjng, the argument.

Not to mention the massive economic expansion that improved the lives of millions of Americans... the government will never be able to "solve" issues of family planning or poverty, but they can make the country more conducive for individuals to make the proper choices and be responsible on their own volition.

Both.

It's literally a form of UBI for children.

Well, for the parent. So long as they pump out kids they can't afford.

Pragmatism only looks at issues through the lens of utility, and utility (apart from being an arbitrary standard for morality and ethics) can be used to justify all sorts of barbarism. In fact, some in this thread have used this to justify abortion.
