In US. Roughly 17,000 “died WITH Covid”. 1000 people lost job for every 1 death. We are a nation of idiots. Sorry, ain’t no ones life worth that.

17 million people forced by government into unemployment

Seems they should be doing something about that government

I agree. Not even my parents (both in 80s with preexisting issues)

A lot of those job losses should be temporary.

The real number of unemployed is probably at least double that

Many financial and economic experts have guesstimated 25% of all small businesses (retail and restaurants) will not survive the shutdown if it goes into June. That's millions of jobs...I'm sure over time consumer demand will bring those businesses back but it will take time.

Yea it really does suck. The jobs will certainly return at some point but those businesses might not. This is going to change the world permanently. Businesses that can only function brick and mortar are going to have a much higher risk profile now.

I tried to explain it to someone like this. If 17 million people are unemployed for long enough to encounter dire financial conditions, and just 2% commit suicide or are murdered by their spouse, then that’s 340,000 people.

So which is worse, 60k covid deaths or 340k deaths.

How many people would die if we did not have social distancing?

A LOT more.

There are also a lot of people that are “unemployed” but have a wink & nod agreement that they will get hired back when things open back up.

There are probably others who just figured out they can make more on unemployment and won’t come back to work for a while.

1. You don't know that.

2. Define a lot. 10k? 100k?

You can't be that dumb to think otherwise, can you?

I hope you're not the ignorant one joining large crowds and ignoring the rules. Shame on you if you are.

Just curious what's an acceptable death to unemployment ratio for you? Is it worth it if only 100 people lose their job for every death?

They desire to punish the shite out of the people of the USA until we dump Trump. So, do as they say OR their good friend China will taunt you a second time.
