After a heated floor debate, the Senate on Tuesday passed a bill 35-14 to ban abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, bringing the state one step closer to enacting the most restrictive abortion ban in the country.

“Mississippians are committed to protecting the lives of unborn children, and this law will be a major step in accomplishing that goal,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said. “I am committed to making Mississippi the safest place in America for an unborn child."

Current state law prohibits the procedure after 20 weeks of a woman’s last period.

I have no opinion on this, but the above restriction seems like a very odd and impossible to prove standard.

Huzzah! The weight around the neck of Mississippi, holding them back all these years, has finally been cut free. The state is now free to pursue a top 40 quality of life ranking tht its citizens deserve.

Maybe he should be a little more committed to providing the one's that are born with a semi-decent education.

More government isn’t going to help failing government schools if that is what you are suggesting

A valid problem.
But the two issues (e.g., abortion, quality public education) aren’t mutually exclusive.

No comment on the actual law, but that picture is fake as hell and obviously made on a computer.

First that baby is way too big; if that baby was the size of the palm of an adult hand is probably about 20-22 weeks.
The skin is way too mature, a baby born this early their skin would be way more transluscent and not have really have much pigment, you'd see more of the blood showing through the skin.

Also look at the border of the baby's skin on the hand, it's pretty blurry as someone tried to do computer magic to make the borders look less obvious that it's a cut-and-paste job

I'm generally opposed to abortion as a means to shirk responsibility or personal convenience. However, this law may require a change to the standard of medical care. Some first ultrasounds are not conducted until between 17-20 weeks. This goes against the potential protection of the life of the mother or cases of such abnormalities as anencephaly where the child won't survive after delivery.

Notice absolutely no one who is for abortion will deny it is a human being.

It is an indisputable scientific fact that it is.

Mississippi will go blue 12 years sooner. Good job, dumbfricks.

Abortion is literally the second greatest weapon in the #MAGA arsenal aside from TRUMP himself.

But he could raise parental age eligibility for welfare. He could also reduce govt killing regulations for entrepreneurship. Red states can be restrictive to stuff like hairbraiding for a living.

Doesn't go far enough, but this is a step in the right direction.
