how about we let one state try it out and see how it works
Seattle did it and it didn’t go too great. I know that’s not a state but it wouldn’t be different state wide.

Idk I would say if a small business can’t afford to pay their folks 15/hr they probably shouldn’t be in business. This mostly effects large companies bottom line IMO. Which is why it is so politicized.

This country is done. Need proof? Read above. Zero economic sense. Anyone of sound mind who agrees that payment offered justifies their skill set is fair. That’s fricking it. Stop being retarded.

I never go to mcd’s but tonight my 6 year old asked for a chicken nugget happy meal. It was just me and him so I decided I’d go thru and get his and go somewhere else for myself.

They fricked up a chicken nugget happy meal and gave him extra fries instead of fries and apple slices.

They fricked a happy meal!!

frick anybody who thinks people that work at McDonald’s need $15 an hour.

Don’t waste your breath arguing with stupid trash like this, and I emphasize stupid, because there’s no reason for a human being in the USA with the easy access we have to tons upon tons of information for complete ignorance to be an excuse. They’ll never admit to being wrong no matter what argument, facts, or data you present them. When it comes to dealing with people like this it’s best to pull a Matt Hooper:

“I think that I am familiar with the fact that you are going to ignore this particular problem until it swims up and bites you on the arse.”

DC are doing it pretty well.

The thing about DC is that the average income is around $70k-90k (double the national average). That $15/hour doesn't even wipe your own arse unless you are able to get a SAFE affordable housing development (that's a 40/60 gamble in DC - which is better than in most places).

The cost of EVERY good moved and consumed on a daily basis will skyrocket while the middle class actually paying the lion's share of income taxes stays stagnant. Therefore, less spendable income is available for those that actually ignite the economy. The rich will simply replace the workers with automated systems resulting in more and more workers once injecting into the economy now are forced to suck the tit of the middle class. This results in a significant increase of governmental dependence, which is what the Marxists desire.

So yeah, no issues whatsoever driving up the costs of the single most important variable in our economy.

$15 x 40 = $600 per week, $31,200 per year. In South Dakota that isn't great but it's enough to comfortably live on if you don't have much debt. Two income household would be over $60k a year. You can buy a decent house in a small town in this state, most of the state, for about $120k easily. That's only 2x household income.

Liveable wage? Absolutely. But small businesses here won't be able to afford the labor costs.

I understand the cry for $15/hr minimum wage in high cost urban areas but one size does not fit all. Let the States decide. South Dakota is nothing like New York so why should our rules be the same?

Tell them they won’t have a job. Businesses have a budget that they can pay employees. If they get $15, instead of $8, it means less employees

This. Minimum wage is for the minimum worker (no experience, skills, or other qualifications). If you have zero experience, skill or other qualifications then you should have zero children. Raising it to $15/hr isn’t going to teach someone making the minimum wage how to not be fiscally irresponsible and to not have kids they can’t afford. It’s not the minimum wage that keeps an individual in poverty, it’s their decisions.

Children = benefits

We should not be rewarding poor people by increasing welfare benefits when they make an irresponsible decision to have a child.

Until that changes, people will continue to be fiscally irresponsible

Raising the minimum wage would be easier if it was implemented at a better time “when no pandemic” over the course of a year or two but to just to slap a double in price jump in wage over night will just rock the system. Initially people will lose jobs at a time when we already have high unemployment. Add that to the fact that it will not raise people out of poverty it will just raise the bar of what poverty is. The purpose of this is obviously to further crush and already shaken middle class.

Well, considering it hasn’t been proven wrong, it shouldn’t piss you off.

Tell the genius, Payroll is the biggest overhead of any business, doubling it will cripple small business...not Walmart
