Nothing in the linked article says this. It’s being added to the vaccines that kids can get for free under federal programs.
The CDC doesn’t even have authority to make them mandatory. That’s entirely on the states themselves.

Like 808 said, the Vaccines for Children Program vote that happened today is not the same as a vote to add it to the immunization schedule.
Apparently it was weird for them to do that now and it has probably caused some confusion.
Let's see what happens tomorrow.

Every single debate or interview from now until after election should be putting everyone on record about their stance.

the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices would be voting today on whether or not to include the COVID-19 vaccine as part of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program. The Vaccines For Children (VFC) program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of their inability to pay, according to the CDC. The CDC buys vaccine at a discounted rate for distribution to registered VFC providers. Children who are eligible* for VFC vaccines are entitled to receive those vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).
