Was this what the MSM was pushing as 100,000 employees resigning.

The buyouts only lasted until 30 Sep

For those who were planning on retiring between 1 Oct and 31 Dec, the deferred benefits would be extended until the retirement date. That was in the "contract" everyone signed that took the buyout back in February.

Wrong. The deferment was to those who would leave but were given pay until the end of the fiscal year as a buy out. Anyone who stayed on after 30 Sep was worked out due to their position and got waivers.

Yes, the MSM were making the buyouts that were happening as part of the shutdown to try and make it seem that Trump was firing 100K workers when in fact most of these folks have been not working for the last 6 months or so but getting a regular check.

The contract that was signed said that those who were retiring between 1 Oct and 31 Dec would get their deferment benefits (pay) extended to their retirement date. I read it because I was worked for the FAA.

This is just not true. The buyouts were signed months ago with a deadline moths ago to sign up. They never had beyond 30 Sep as their last date unless they made arrangements based on their position/work.

If your retirement date is between October 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025, you are still eligible for deferred resignation (unless your position is exempted from the deferred resignation program by your agency). If your retirement date is within this window, your deferred resignation date will be extended to match your retirement date.

This was in the agreement that was signed by all parties involved:

10. I understand that nothing in this Agreement prevents me from retiring from federal service at any time if I am eligible to do so under the applicable provisions of CSRS or FERS.
a. If I am eligible and elect to retire before September 30, 2025, my retirement election shall override any benefits that would be available to me under this Agreement after the effective date of my retirement.
b. If I am eligible and elect to retire between October 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025, and I elect to participate in the deferred resignation program, administrative leave will be extended until my retirement date.
I understand that I am responsible for submitting a CSRS or FERS application
.

Those who elected to participate and have a retirement date between 1 Oct and 31 Dec will have their administrative leave extended to meet their retirement date. But, with the government shutdown, they are still on admin leave but not getting paid and are on furlough status.

"Am I permitted to extend my final resignation date?

The terms of the deferred resignation letter do not allow for an extension of the final resignation date. There is a narrow possible exception for employees with impending retirement dates. Consult your agency's human resources team for more information."

If you don't understand that those who put in retirement paperwork for dates after 30 Sep are not the same as those who left on 30 Sep you are too dense to vote...

FYI, they are still able to retire...with benefits

I’m only saying that i know several employees who accepted the deferred resignation / retirement in March and elected to retire December 31, 2025 with the understanding they were going to be put on administrative leave and receiving a paycheck until that date.

I’m not talking about those who chose to leave on Sept 30. I think we’re both getting our wires crossed and, for that, I apologize.

Well your anecdotal evidence is bunk. No one would be working past 30 Sep on the deferment.

Read the OMB guidance. What you are saying is just not so.

I read the OPM guidance and the agreement that was signed by employee, their supervisor and a representative from the employee’s agency and it clearly they will be on administrative leave until their retirement date. You believe what you wish.

they were leaving anyway, they just wanted to make it official before Trump had the option of firing them without the added benefit package, Many took vacation days/months they had built up before officially taking the package.

It clearly states 30 Sep was the deadline for the deferment

These events were rare and given out by some agencies at the initial inception of the DRP program.

Then OMB clarified what the plan was, but those workers still kept their deal.

Why the Dems could not pass a clean CR and keep things open is beyond logic.

Johnson has had since January to craft an actual BUDGET BILL, but he would rather send everyone on vacation than do the actual hard work required to get the country back to fiscal responsibility.

You can't blame the Democrats for everything when the Republicans hold all of the branches of government including a super majority in the USSC.

Where is the balanced budget bill, Mr. Johnson?
