It's a lot of socially awkward people that have some good points, but drown it in a sea of misogyny and self hatred lash outs.

Bunch of dudes who use terms such as "alpha" and "beta".
Really, it is a bunch of dudes who had no confidence or ability to interact with women, and this cult of sorts helps them gain that--just too extreme. The basis where TRP started actually makes a lot of sense: Be more confident, love yourself, don't get hung up on a woman and creep her out, etc.
But TRP took it above and beyond. "Negging", treating people badly to make yourself more desirable, etc.
It went from something that could greatly help these insecure men to something that is harming them more than helping them. The only "help" it is now is helping men not give a frick. But once you've reached a certain level of a-hole, you will be just as undesirable as you were when you were "too nice".

They're the kind of people who would be super nice to women and expect sex in return. When the women turned them down for sex, probably because they're overweight and pimpled, they got mad. "Women only like jerks!!" So they formed a community where they can bash women and make up stories about how they were mean.

That is exactly it. They feel they are owed something because they were nice.
They're the guy that hits on you at the bar, and if you tell them you have a boyfriend right away, they flip out and call you a bitch for accusing them of such a thing.. saying they were only being friendly and not hitting on you. But if you don't tell them about your boyfriend right away and just chat, they flip out and call you a bitch for being friendly to them for 30 minutes/wasting their time and hiding that you have a boyfriend.

there is a place for learning more "alpha" behavior characteristics, especially in modern society that neuters males from acting male
of course some guys take it too far, but a lot of the backlash is from SJW-types trying to re-create teh status quo into that neutered male

well lots of these guys were raised to be utter pussies b/c that's what parents, esp single moms, are told about raising kids
