Only $59 unlocked at the Microsoft Store

$59 for an unlocked smartphone running the latest Windows Phone software? That's amazing! Might get this just to try Windows Phone 8.1.

Anybody here use Windows phone? Is the lack of Google services a big deal?

Nope. That is the full retail price.

And yes, for that price it's actually a pretty good phone. My wife tried one out for a while.

The app ecosystem of course is nothing compared to iOS and android, but just taking the phone by itself it's pretty good for that price.

Can I run that on wifi without a SIM card? I might consider this to get a Windows Phone testing unit.

Just to add, you can use gmail and probably replace other services with MS ones.

Not having a robust App Store really sucked IMO. The stock browser is garbage and there were literally no good alternatives. Camera is not even rate-able against a flagship phone.

But...If you're not a big time app user and just use the big ones like Facebook, Instagram and don't care about high end features this is probably a hell of a bargain. You get a lot for $60 and like you said, you own it no contract.

I'm almost positive it can but I think you have to get the 521. Don't quote me on that

anyone switching to tmo from another service provider should snap this up while they wait for a better phone to come along.

..and hey..its a perfect backup phone in a pinch.

I wouldnt say that and UC Browser is a great browser. I believe Maxthon is on there now also

But this is an excellent smartphone for anyone who's new to smartphomes or don't need all the fancy features. Windows Phone is smooth, simple, efficient, and good on battery.

My mom has gotten up to 5 days, 4 hours on her HTC 8X

Personal preference I guess. The placement of everything just seemed weird and everything seemed slow and heavy. But, I haven't been a fan of IE for the last decade or so.

I didn't even see UC when I looked in their App Store. But this was a couple of months ago.

Some things could be done a little better I'll admit

Not sure if the Lumia 1020 would have a separate browser, as its a more high end phone, but mine came with IE installed as the browser.

Please get off your high horse. The phone costs $60 for crying out loud. You want better specs? Get a higher end phone.
