No! Because for some reason people now think that their opinion should matter on how another person should feel & express them selves.
There are probably less than 500 people in the entire world that I am concerned about what they say. Could give 2 shits less about what the other 7 billion have on their minds. If they say something that I don't like or agree with, I stop listening right there.
There are defiantly not enough people that feel the way I do, but I'm ok with that and don't feel that I have any obligation to try & convince people my way is the right way.

free speech doesn't have boundaries.

before anyone replies with the usual "oh child pornography"

that is a crime because it is nonconsenting adults, without capacity engaging in an activity against their will. That's illegal no matter how you dice it.

Sure we do as long as you edit what you want to say. Wouldn't want to offend anyone with an opinion or facts.

I'm not, I've never liked the FCC...and regardless of it's future potential

as it stands right now, they censor speech, therefore we do not have free speech. You have it or you don't. We don't, but it is still the restricted to the smallest degree of any place in the world, but we don't have it. It really is that simple in my mind.

and it isn't a partisan issue, everyone despises the FCC except the people who run it.

Offending people with opinion is all American. offending Americans with name calling and hate is just wrong.

The FCC regulates the avenues the speech is disseminated. 1st Amendment guarantees you a right to say what you want, but it doesn't guarantee you the right to use the public airwaves to disseminate it

We never have and never will have absolute free speech. Even in the absence of gov people will self regulate speech. Go to a kids playground and at the top of your lungs graphically describe a sexual encounter....you'll be regulated, your free speech limited.

In the spectrum of free speech rights we are at the extreme free end but not absolute free.

1st never contemplated an absolute blank slate to say what you want without repercussion. 1st just said government couldn't be the source of repercussion.

Yes, we have free speech. The problem is that most Americans have a gross misunderstanding of what free speech entails.

Yes.

We also have a large number of people that don't understand what free speech entails.

actually, I do understand it. It is the freedom to say whatever the frick you want without consequences from government

So, that is pretty undeniable, tell me how we have free speech because I'm pretty sure the government has the ability and a track record of reprimanding people (granted in broadcasting) for free speech

you can go into slander, verbal threats, child porn but those are against the law for separate reasons. You're committing crimes against persons. You're not prohibited from speech, you're prohibited from harming others.
