I thought we were talking about being a rim protector, not contesting 18 ft jumpers. I would expect nothing less from you than to pull stats that aren't relevant to the topic at hand though.

Like I said, that's fine by me. The top 2 defensively are Howard and Hibbert.

The best overall C is Howard.

Roy hibbert faced 419 shots.
Of those 419, 54.4% were 'close range shots'.
Of those 228 attempts, 38.2% were made.
Totalling up to: 87 made shots out of 228 attempts

Dwight howard faced 409 shots.
Of those 409, 48.2% were 'close range shots'.
Of those 197 attempts, 45.7% were made.

Totalling up to: 90 made shots out of 197 attempts

So even though he makes them defer, which we all know he does, when he's tested, he actually allowed more shots than hibbert did although hibbert was tested more often.

i.e. you should attack the rim against howard more often than not.

Yes, the misinformed now see that Gasol is not as great of a rim protector as Dwight.

Not even close. He might be the least skilled big in the league. Great athlete though.

Second most overrated player of the last 20 years. He's trailing Russ Westbrook by a hair.

Yes, and you can finally accept the fact that Hibbert (in that article) was a better overall defender than Howard. Then, we'll be making some major progress!

Howard is still easily the best, I'd say he's been a top 5 player thus far in the playoffs.

PER rankings playoffs:

Howard 3rd
Gasol 83rd

Or maybe it's that the times players do challenge Howard are times when they are in much better position to score... thus making their fg% higher.

I'm not saying that's the case, but it's certainly a possibility.

26.0 ppg, 14.2 reb, 3.0 blk, 27.6 PER

Surely you're free to disagree with him, but there is nothing funny about that stat-line.

Put it to ya like this bunchy, Howard's postseason PER would have him 3rd in the regular season behind only Durant and Lebron. You mustn't be watching if don't agree that he's been dominant.

Howard's PER = 27.6

PER MATRIX:

A Year For the Ages: 35.0
Runaway MVP Candidate: 30.0
Strong MVP Candidate: 27.5
Weak MVP Candidate: 25.0
Bona fide All-Star: 22.5
Borderline All-Star: 20.0
Solid 2nd option: 18.0
3rd Banana: 16.5
Pretty good player: 15.0
In the rotation: 13.0
Scrounging for minutes: 11.0
Definitely renting: 9.0
The Next Stop: DLeague 5.0

Yes obviously he's been "good"

For reference A few career PER numbers:

Jordan = 27.91
Lebron = 27.79
Shaq = 26.43

Clearly Dwight hasn't been dominant
