Saints were lucky in last minute!

After Brees got the 1st down with 29 sec. left, they called a TO and had 1 left. He ran to the middle of the field on 1st down. Then CSP called the last TO with 3 sec. left to kick the GW FG. Had they bobbled the snap, it woulda been Romo vs. Seattle all over again. What should've happened was after the run by Brees with 29 sec. left, he should have done what he did next as far as setting the ball in the middle of the field on the 1st down play. Now, with 2nd down here, instead of bleeding the clock to 3 sec and using a TO, Brees should've gotten up to the line and clocked it with about 10 sec. left. Now it's 3rd down and you still have that ONE TO left in case of a bad snap. Glad it worked out though!

That wasn't luck you dumbshit.
ETA: and we weren't about to risk a fumble in that situation. CSP made the right call and we won.

I agree, but he trusted his players. And that counts for something. Calculated confidence

You mean all .01% of the time that this happens?

I read your post and it's something to think about and worthy of discussion. Problem is this thread's shitty title and it will go nowhere but downvote town with it.

The only reason people think about it is because of the Romo play. How many other bobbled snaps can you think of in the NFL? I'd bet that the odds of a pass interference on a hail mary are higher.

Well take my message and re-title it cuz these same people would be on suicide watch had the snap been bad!

The chance of them returning the kick for a TD after you leave time on the clock is probably 100x greater than a bobbled snap

No, really, kill yourself and do the board a favor.

the last series by the Saints was absolutely text book. Things did go our way, but in no way shape or form was it "lucky".

Fair point but also before tonight, teams that committed 2 turnovers in the playoffs were 5-133. We were the sixth team to win in the playoffs doing that tonight.
I don't know man. You never know.

Sean Payton always preaches for players to do their job. It isn't lucky. He expects/expected his players to do their job, and they did. If they didn't do their job they wouldn't be advancing. Nothing to do with luck. Luck is when a fumbles bounces into your arms. Not game management.

What if you kick the field goal and leave enough time for a kick
off and shady takes it the distance. Then what? Coach made the right call and luck wasn't part of it.
