the G FUNK era of hip-hop

A great period in hip-hop history. The production is the real key to the g-funk genre, with a mixture of heavy samples from 70's era funk music and live instrumentals featuring plenty of synthesizers.
Obviously The Chronic is the gold standard of G-funk
Dr. Dre - Let Me Ride
Dr Dre ft. Snoop Dogg - Nuthin' But A G-Thang
Dre had actually started perfecting the g-funk sound while still in NWA with Alwayz into Something
Dre carried over the success of The Chronic with Snoop Dogg's similarly produced debut album
Gin and Juice
Who Am I? (What's My Name)
People started imitating Dre's production left and right. Many failed, but there were some gems:
BG Knocc Out & Dresta - Real Brothas
DJ Quik - Safe+Sound
Eazy E - Real Muthaphucking G's
Warren G ft. Nate Dogg - Regulate
post some good g funk

Now that is my era of rap. My poor girls at work didn't know who it was when I had 2pac on. BTW, they weren't gangsta but Beastie Boys should always be mentioned in a conversation about good rap. They revolutionized beats and artists today should thank them.
