I think we are up there in the top 5 for sure. When you look at the talent level on the top of our depth chart and then see how deep it goes. It seems like these guys have no business getting tired when we play because as soon as you are out of breathe you switch with the next man.

I ask this because Pollack said on Mike and Mike this morning that FSU has the best. I think he even said 'easily' better than LSU. I decided to take my P&G glasses and open up, wondering if the Rant has any info to back it up. I honestly don't know a ton about FSU's D-Line.

Without a doubt, and we are very Deep at DL.. I was just discussing with my cousin, I don't see a reason to blitz more than 5 on 2nd and 3rd Downs, just let these guys eat on the line and drop 6-7 in coverage....

I heard him and was wondering the same thing. It's hard to imagine a D-line better than ours given the depth and speed at the ends.

Yes and its not close. All starting 4 have all american potential. Pollack is fricking awful at what he does. Also IMHO FSU would be 3rd in my book behind LSU then Texas.

First of all, our DLine is proven, what has FL Sts DL proven? That they can beat OU and can't win the ACC.. Mingo and Monty seperate us from the rest of em..

He said easily better than Alabama and LSU. Is actually what he said. Wasn't Pollack on the 2003 Georgia team that got waxed in the SEC Championship game?

Not sure why everyone continues to worry about what these analyst have to say. They have an agenda. When you look at LSU's line, barring injury, they have 2 guys that will go in the top 10-15 picks in the NFL draft...they have 3 other potential future first round draft picks (at least) imo, in Logan (he would have been 2nd round last year had he come out, according to draft experts, Ego, and Freak are young and unproven, but the sky is the limit for them.

If Florida State has 4 first round draft picks on their line right now, then hats off to them. I'll take my chances with mingo, monty, freak, ego, logan, downs, etc.

I like to be objective, too - especially pre-season. We have LOTS of question marks - QB, WR(somewhat), LB and depth at DB. Having said that, defensive line isn't one of them. We have, arguably the best DE tandem in school history (and I say Spears/Hill is still the one to beat, but if anybody can do it, Mingo/Montgomery can) and certainly a duo containing 2 of the top 5 players at the position probably puts us at #1 (and certainly in the discussion), DE wise (Texas, maybe with Okafor and Jeffcoat, FSU has Jenkins and Warner, Bama has Square and Dial - who else has 2 nationally regarded DEs? And both of ours are underclassmen who will likely declare next year - the other tandems all have at least 1 senior)

As far as DTs, Bama plays a 3-4 and has Williams - that with their ends puts them in the discussion. FSU has Dawkins, tOSU has Goebel and Hankins, Utah has Lotulelai and Kruger, we have Logan.

Texas has great ends, but no (at least with high NFL interest at this time) standout DT. The reverse is true for tOSU (ETA: And Utah, for that matter). Bama, FSU and LSU have the combination of nationally regarded DEs AND DTs - Bama, although their line is outstanding, has a system more around LBers because that is the focus of the 3-4, FSU's line is outstanding as well, and they have a number of younger players (just as we do) - Jimbo is doing an excellent job recruiting. While I have those 3 lines as the top 3, overall, I do not have them in any particular order, nor can I say any of the 3 has "clearly" distanced itself from the other 2.

Honestly, I think our 2nd unit is maybe top ten. Our d-line is stacked. This might be the best d-line we've ever had, and that's saying something.

Anyone who follows college football knows FSU's DL is legit. IMO they have the best combination of experience and youth, the DL class they just signed is plain sick.

yes...we have two early first round draft picks, another first round draft pick in logan, and veteran who has played 4 years at lsu in down, and two young guys who were at the top of the DL class coming out of highschool....including freak who was the #1 DL in the 2011 class. I don't think anyone is knocking Florida State's line, but when you look at LSU....I don't know how you argue that Florida State is better...especially the experience and youth argument....given we have mingo, monty, edwards, downs with experience, and ego and freak (to name just a few) who are outstanding younger talents. Just not sure how you can get better than your entire line likely first round draft picks.
