Saban Had Hand In Creating LSU Monster

Saban played the old him, who recruited future Ole Miss star offensive lineman Michael Oher to LSU. The problem was that Saban was a few years removed from his LSU days and was coaching Alabama.
He was so uneasy about how his new players might react to his acting debut in the wrong colors that he asked Alabama’s leadership group whether it was OK for him to do the cameo.
quote:
He can’t ignore the monster he helped create in Baton Rouge, La. Before Saban got his hands on LSU, the Tigers were a mere afterthought in the SEC.
quote:
LSU had suffered through two straight losing season under previous coach Gerry DiNardo and had recorded seven losing seasons in the 1990s.
Saban swooped in and conducted a complete transformation. His first objective was to instill more discipline within the program and hammer home academics. He led the way for a $15 million fundraising effort for a new academic center for LSU student-athletes and made sure he and his players were tremendously active in the community.
quote:
Now, LSU is a winning and recruiting machine. Miles has picked up beautifully from where Saban left off, but he certainly owes a little of his own success to Saban’s work. Miles hasn’t relinquished LSU’s stranglehold on the state of Louisiana and prides himself on building his team off of local talent.
quote:
On Monday, Saban will meet the beast he created years ago. He doesn’t like to pump his LSU ties, but this one is different.
This one is for all the sugar, and once Saban sets foot on the Superdome field and stares at that purple-and-gold monster, he’ll have to take some pride in his work that helped create LSU’s masterpiece.

Ginardo left recruits behind and Saban and his staff did a good job with them.
The same thing that Saban did with Shula's recruits.
He never arrived to a bare cupboard. Both schools had talent. Just didn't have the coaching when he took over.

Dinardo had just as much impact as Saban

Nothing wrong with this, except they undersell Dinardo's contribution.
Dinardo made great strides from his predecessor. People do not realize how bad Hallman was.
Miles has taken the program to an even higher level. Saban may have done the same if he had stayed but facts are he did not. Miles also had to deal with Katrina upon his arrival. That directly contributed to 2008/2009 seasons (among other reasons).

I don't think any LSU fan can realistically say Saban didn't have a big part to play in awakening LSU from being a sleeping giant.
However, this line:
should read, "Miles has elevated the program to a level even higher than what Saban brought it to, and had he been hired directly after DiNardo, the same result could have ensued."

No, he didn't. But his impact should not be minimized. And his impact is greater than many people, including many LSU fans, give him credit for.

Thank you Saban
Now GFY, mouth breather.

If LSU wins it should be a split NC because they only won due to Saban.

of course he had a hand in resurecting LSU. dinardo started it but just didn't have it. after arnsbarger left, lsu made some poor coaching choices (the BOS went cheap) and the fans got tired of poor coaching and losing football games. saban inherited a pretty good team and he won the nc in yr 3, just like at bama. lsu has always been near the top in attendence, revenue, facilities and fan interest. saban and lsu were the right combo at the right time. now, lsu understands to stay at the top ya gotta pay for top coaches and we have the fundraising arm to do it. i guess young people always think life started when they were born but it simply isn't true. lsu had some damn great teams and a damn great traditions before saban and will have them after miles.

LSU had hand in creating Saban (Alabama) monster.
Tide was certainly an afterthought under Mile Shula.

Saban created LSU... and now he's going to kill it.

The whole Mile's won with Saban's players is so stupid. Miles recruited, signed and trained 75% of that 2007 team on his lonesome.
