Here are a few samples of emails sent to an ESPN reporter that has the balls to say that a re-match shouldn't happen.

quote:

Hey Reilly:

I hope you get gangrene on your nose. Your so-called "article" ridiculing an LSU-Alabama rematch for the national championship was stupid. Just because you thought the first one was "boring" does not mean these are not the two best teams. Go back to your spider hole.

--Jimmy Tomjack, Birmingham, Ala.

quote:

Dear Communist:

You have the brains of half a worm. It's true that Alabama didn't qualify for their own conference title game, but they're still the second-best team in the country by a country mile. Go drink a can of Raid.

--Jacktom Jimmy, Tuscaloosa, Ala.

quote:

Yo, jackwagon:

You rail against a rematch, but who would you rather have play LSU? There's nobody else. Even No. 3 Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said this week that he wouldn't vote his team No. 2. Go pound tumbleweeds.

--Tommy Jim, Jackson, Ala.

Just to add, here are the writers views on a possible rematch

quote:

The first LSU-Alabama game was more boring than Tim Tebow's porn stash. To play another one will be like remaking "J. Edgar" or attending a goiter convention.

I just don't get how that game was boring. Every single play mattered who won or lost. A sack on the qb was huge. A missed first down was devistating. How is a game like that supposed to be boring?

Is it more fun to watch Oregon blow somebody out?

The game was boring to fans who don't understand the concept of defense. Which, unfortunatley, includes this ESPN 'expert'

True. I have some friends up here, who I thought were big football fans, who were telling me how boring the game was. They just love big offensive plays and lots of points. Like how some baseball fans love big homeruns but hate pitchers' duels.

I accepted their comments and informed them of what normally happens to those explosive offensive teams when they face defenses like LSU or Alabama.

People were having trouble with the scoreboard. They wanted it to look more like a basketball game, not baseball.

Great article...he's saying what everyone is thinking. I agree that how are is the BCS committee going to tell all the other conference champions (most at one loss as well) that they have to sit home.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out this weekend.

But still..."F" the gumps!

This was a great article. It calls out points that have been pounded into everyone's heads and also sheds light on valid points that no one seems to want to talk about. I'm praying for everything that is good to sweet baby jesus for a Okie State win. College football needs it.

He bitches about SEC fans and then quotes a bunch of Gumps.

When will ESPN learn that Bama is not the same as the SEC?

it was exciting for lsu and bama fans because they knew they're whole season depended on that game (or at least they thought at the time).

To the rest of the country, these were two HIGH scoring teams, penned the game of the centruty, and they could barely score on each other. The game was exciting for me, but if I watch it again, without the purple and gold glasses like it was two unranked teams playing, that game was boring.

But you can't do that. Because it's obvious watching that game that it's not two unranked teams. It's the best, that's all you can tell from that game.

If you want 65-64 games, watch the MAC on Tuesday nights. Then tell me that their games can hold a candle to the LSU bama game.

Also, what's more exciting, a low scoring game between two Goliaths or a blowout?
