PC Load Letter? What the frick does that mean?

So, our office fax was a piece of shite. It had given us fits for the past month and we replaced it last week. Because I am such an awesome employee, the fax was given to me. I got to reenact one of my favorite scenes from Office Space this weekend. I just thought I'd share with you em effers.

Can someone please explain this to me? There's email and the Internet. What's the point of a fax machine in today's office? We just got rid of ours.

I'm in a medical setting and faxes are routinely used. I would guess because they are a more secure way to transmit patient information than an e-mail.

we need hard copies. even if we receive email format, we'd have to print it out. plus, some of our customers/clients are not smart enough to do the scan/email thing.
