NEW YORK -- Deion Sanders and former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr are among the 16 players and coaches selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Sanders was an All-American cornerback at Florida State from 1985-88 before going on to a stellar NFL career.
Carr won 75 percent of his games and the 1997 national championship in 13 seasons as Michigan's coach.
On Monday, it was announced that 1995 Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George from Ohio State was heading for the Hall Fame.
Also picked are Florida receiver Carlos Alvarez, Texas defensive lineman Doug English, Oregon State fullback Bill Enyart, Alabama defensive lineman Marty Lyons, Miami defensive lineman Russell Maryland, Georgia defensive back Jake Scott, Nebraska guard Will Shields, Minnesota quarterback Sandy Stephens, West Virginia linebacker Darryl Talley, Oklahoma halfback Clendon Thomas, Arizona defensive lineman Rob Waldrop, and Michigan State receiver Gene Washington.
Fisher DeBerry, the longtime Air Force coach, was also picked for the Hall of Fame.

They only announced 2 of the 14 inductions yesterday.

I'm surprised they announced Eddie, but not Tommy Frazier

That was actually in my original post but apparently, all the inductees haven't been notified yet.

I would think Tommie has more star power, but Eddie did win the heisman over Frazier that year.

Had Lawrence Phillips not been suspended for 6 games that season, he might have won the Heisman.
Dude had 359 yards on 34 carries with 6 TD's in two games before being suspended.
Obviously, that doesn't matter because it didn't turn out that way. Just thought it was pretty crazy.
Frazier should get in no question.

I feel Eddie has more "star power" over time, due to his pro career. I think Frazier (even though Eddie won the Heisman) was probably the bigger star in college and maybe the better player, but I think Eddie's strong pro career helped establish him as a household name. Anyway, Frazier will probably be announced today, so no issue there.
Regardless,

Derrick Thomas
How the hell has he not been elected yet? As a kid, my first memories were around the 1987-1988 seasons watching Alabama football. He ended up with 27 QB sacks in 1988, truly remarkable.
