Anybody been to this new restaurant next to The Vineyard? What's it all about?

Is it only open for Valentine's Day?

Nope, it's open right now. Waiting on my "Juicy Loosie" as I type. I'm not expecting much, but we'll see.

The "Juicy Loosey" was ok. It's a big arse burger with cheese filled in the meat. After I ordered it, I realized I wasnt in the mood for grease. I'm going to try the jambalaya next time.

This place gets a lot of bonus points since they're open til 3am.

sounds like somebody is copying an episode of "man vs. food" where richman went to minnesota to settle the debate over who had the best "jucy lucy" or "juicy lucy" ... the first place just offered american cheese in the patty and the other offered almost any cheese ...

Cupid's actually had american and cheddar in their "Juicy Loosey" ...

Menu items include a marinated grilled chicken breast sandwich ($5, large $6.50),

Sausage and peppers with grilled onions ($5/$6.50)

Po-boys ($5/$6.50),

Jumbo hot dogs ($2),

BLT ($4/$5.50),

Jambalaya ($5/$6.50)

Homemade Gumbo ($5/$6.50)

A couple of different style of burgers, one of them mentioned in a previous post,

and Pizza Cones.

Some sides, salads, apps and soft drinks are offered.

I did confirm that they are open everyday from 11am-3am, which is awesome because for the exception of the Londoner, the Chimes and perhaps Waffle House, there's really no late night eat places. Coupled with the fact that Winn-Dixie and Walmart close at 11pm and midnight, this is a welcome addition for late night grub.

I'm envisioning people stumbling out of the Vineyard at 2am and walking directly into Cupid's next door. Location, location, location.

WALMART CLOSES?!

Or are you referring to the neighborhood one on Coursey?

Yup, was referring to the Coursey area.

Actually, the entire city's late night eat scene is rather weak.

Cupid's is a terrible name for a restaurant.

I thought it was a sex toy/lingerie store.

Hey, no pimping your store here.

I haven't tried it yet, but from their menu description, they seem to be very proud of their gumbo:

"FONTENOT'S HOMEMADE GUMBO...ask us for a free sample. We slow cook this homemade roux all day and just know you'll want more. Comes with a hearty slice of toasted French bread."

Obviously homemade, they put their name on it (how can you go wrong with a name like Fontenot?), AND are imploring us to try a sample.

Thanks for all the good info. Will definitely try
the chicken sandwich, gumbo and jambalaya. BTW,
noting the time of your last post did you just
leave the Vineyard?

Nope, haven't been there in a while.

I just had reason to think about authentic gumbo at 1:39am. This place might do well.
