I usually hit td on my iPhone at least 50 times a day, but I've been so busy this is the first time since Monday I got a chance to check out the board. Last time I checked the hot name was the co-OC from tcu, and nobody wanted krag. Now I see nothing about the tcu guy and people seem to be more accepting of krag. What did I miss? And what happened to all these other candidates (ravens OC, Wisconsin OC, tb rb coach....oh and i almost forgot gruden)?

Lots of rumors have been floating around. Anything from promoting Stud/Gonzo and getting a QB coach to Fuente or Kraghorpe. The current speculation is that it's Kragthorpe.

What contributed to the fact that people think fuente is not the leading guy anymore. To some people two days ago it was him or bust, at least as far as the realistic candidates went

I just don't know what to tell you...

The candidates being mentioned the last two days are "good", but nowhere near the caliber that I thought Miles would be going after.

Maybe Miles is waiting for the right guy (insert rumour here), or maybe LSU is just going to settle for a "good" candidate.

Still nobody has really answered my main question. What's the reason the board has seemed to back away from fuente? Is he no longer listed as a candidate, not being interviewed, said he wasn't interested?

Someone posted a link of an article two days ago where he was asked if he interviewed and fuente said he hasn't interviewed for the LSU OC position.

QUOTE: What kind of guy were you thinking we could/should get?

I'd like to get someone who has experience and success as a playcalling offensive coordinator.

I'd start with Cam Cameron. I know that is a reach, but I believe it is realistic. Especially now that Michigan has just hired the Ravens Defensive Coordinator, Greg Mattison.

LSU should be able to attact a quality hire such as the guys just obtained at Texas (Bryan Harsin), Florida (Charlie Weis), or even Michigan (Al Borges).

Just to throw a name out there with the resume I like very much: David Yost, Missouri OC, QB Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator.
LINK

Yost has been with Missouri for 10 years, high level of success as an offensive coach, is young, and certainly must be looking for a promotion. He has been calling plays the last two years and has worked with quarterbacks such as:

Brad Smith
Chase Daniels
and future 2011 first round QB Blaine Gabbert

He also recruits Texas.

I'm not saying that this should be THE guy. But I would like to see Miles hire someone with credentials at least this good (i.e. currently employeed, success calling plays, QB guru).

Fuente would fit this criteria as well.

I think we have the players in place this year that as long as we get someone decent the team should be good to go.
Just dont want any experiments.

I think a big reason the board has "backed away" is because they heard the report that Miles has narrowed the choices to 2 for the O.C. position.

Krag and Sanford.

And since Fuente isn't either of those two, people are not talking about him as much.

Yep. There just isn't much more to say about Fuente at this point. We know he has been contacted by LSU, but we don't know if and/or when he might interview. There just isn't any news coming out on the guy.

But...

He has not officially pulled out of the running...other than that? I like him better than Krag and Sanford.

Guess I need to say this in EVERY thread.

Miles was reported to have said the list has been narrowed down to 2. Krag and and Sanford.

So lets drop Fuente.

Yes, it appears Kragthorpe is the guy.

We are all very excited about it.

I know this has been "reported", but does that really sound like Miles to anyone? It just does not fit Miles' style to let a statement like this go public, as he usually keeps information of this nature away from the public.

Until I hear something official, I'm going to bet Miles is still looking at candidates. Plus, its more fun that way.

Unless I misunderstood Moscona, Miles publicly stated this. It wasn't like he "let it go public"

and he also said the search was for an O.C., not for a Q.B. coach as some people thought.

And it was also said that the final choice would be chosen before bayou bash.
