For those of you criticizing PP7 on last nights performance

Because Fuller "schooled" him last night, heres a quick lesson on strategy. I dont know how many of you played d-back or receiver, but those of you who did probably already understood this last night.
What aTm's outside receivers we're doing was running option routes. The options we're slant if the corner was backed up 5+ yards, a fade if the corner was pressed covered and they stacked the DB, a comeback(what most of the catches were) if press covered but unable to beat the DB. The throws on those comeback routes were money. Absoloutely money. Tanneyhill was throwing it just like you coach it. Throw it out of bounds, where either your guy catches it, or it hits the equipment manager in the face
when thats thrown properly and the route is run properly, its unstoppable. It was apperant that aTm knew they couldnt beat our corners deep and they knew they couldnt run hitch or out routes against us, and when they tried, Reid and Matheiu picked them off.
You have to understand that with our defense, we leave PP on an island. Thats why he couldnt undercut the comeback routes or play outside position to take it away(no safety help and if the WR stacks him, its going for a big play). So he is forced to take away the deep ball, and take away the slant by press covering(once we realized we had to blitz to get pressure on Tanneyhill, he had to play more bump and run because that slant because the Hot read ala enter the spot the LB's just vacated for a quick easy completion.). PP single handily took away 2 of the 3 options that aTm was trying to use. You lose a battle, you win the war.
at those saying his draft stock fell last night.
Here's to PP for being a GREAT LSU TIGER and representing LSU well in the pro's.

While I'd never criticize PP, appreciate the info. Very helpful for me, since I never played organized FB.

In his defense, I think that was a very quality post that deserved its own thread. I would have never seen it in the other thread.

I played CB and I understood completely what A & M was doing. It was a very good gameplan.

Agreed. You said it with more explanation and analysis than me, but as I said in another post, it was the coverage our defense was playing (and some spot on throws), not anyone getting schooled. PP never got beat, got out jumped or out hustled and he tackled the receiver on the spot so no YAC.
All in all, he did his ASSIGNED job very well.

2 different positions. Half the time, the Tyrannasaur is the one blitzing or he's matched up against the 2 receiver, which is either a TE, slot, or back coming out of the backfield

What do you think of about the play of our linebackers last night they were almost non existence in the stats for tackles, int, etc. Take away Baker's sack did they do anything in your opinion??
