Possibly looking to get a new commercial duty zero turn to mow some pretty big acreage. I was kind of looking at the Kubota ZD1211, but have been intrigued by the new Spartan mowers as well. They seem to be big on looks, but I was just wondering if any of you guys had any time on either one of these machines. For what it's worth, I have a 27 hp gas Kubota that has treated me very well. Just looking for different opinions from those on here who may have had any experience with the two mowers mentioned above.

That ain't much. I cut 3 acres on a 54" John deere residential model in an hour and 15 minutes.

Set a budget and shop accordingly. You can easily stay under $4k for that.

Kubota will outlast the spartan.
Sold both until I finally sold my shares in the business retiring last month.
We kept Kubota for Govt accounts that would use the mowers 8 hours of continuous use 5 days a week.
As a dealer this is not everyone’s mower as the price tag scares people off.
You get what you pay for.

Spartans are nice. I have had mine for two years. Thing can move and has held up. Mow 5 acres once a week.
I would say...
Spartan with vanguard 36hp
Gravely with Kawasaki
Scag with Kawasaki

300 series Kubota would work, I have a zd221 54 for one acre. Doesn’t cut as pretty as my old examrk but wouldn’t go back to a gas one again. Smooth, quiet, quick starts, etc. only thing I would do different is get a suspension seat, Kubota calls for higher pressure in their tires than the exmark, rides a little rougher. 300 and larger are pretty heavy weight wise. I think the 221 is over 1000 pounds, I had to learn to vary my cuts to keep ruts from forming.

Hustler Raptor. Have 2 acres where I live + own 2 - 2 acre lots. Takes me about an hour to cut here at the house. Have about 25 trees and big flower beds to cut around.

The 2 - 2 acre lots are side by side. Takes about 2 hour 15 minutes to cut them if I cut once a week in the spring. If I cut every 2 weeks in spring it is close to 3 hours.

4 year 400 hour warranty when I bought it 3 years ago. No problems at all.
