Google "too cool ice chest by Marpac". Same company that makes the Yeti chest. Only diiference is the handles and half the price.

Yetis are great for a purpose of holding something cold for a long time. Like hauling meat or shrimp...etc. If you pack it with ice and leave closed, it is a great cooler.
For everyday, in and out getting beer. Worthless. No different than any other cooler.
I use mine because I got it for Christmas. And if I dont use it now, I will soon become too weak to use it.

It depends. Spending 2-3 days offshore or at the camp where buying more ice is not an option, YES.
If you are just using it for a day trip, check out the Coleman Xtreme series. Fraction of the price and some say they hold ice just the same or better.
Like an earlier poster said, they're built like a tank. I have an IceyTek that is about 8 years old (and I treat things like shite) and everything on it is still in great shape.

Great if someone gave it to you as a gift, or if your company paid for it. Not worth the money out of your own pocket.

When you spend 1k in gas to go offshore for a weekend, it is worth the money to bring back the Tuna cold and fresh. If you use a cooler a lot, they are well worth it and will be the last cooler you buy. If you use a cooler to keep you beer cold for 4 hours then a $30 igloo will work just fine.

I got one as a gift 5 years ago and it is still in great shape. Just like everyone has said, they are great for storing ice in. If you are opening it constantly grabbing beers or mixing whiskey drinks, it melts just like any other cooler. And they are heavy as hell. But i love mine.

I googled the weight and got nothing. How much does an empty one weigh? Are we talking about 30-40lbs empty?

I can ruin a normal chest in a weekend. One of my Yeti's is three years old. I am definitely money ahead by not having to buy a new chest every time I load up.

Suck for tailgating etc. But for hunting trips or fishing where you can put it and leave it, best chest I have ever used. Damned near takes 2 people to move when it is empty.
