I am about to buy a yamaha 4 stroke 150. I was debating putting my mercury on my new boat but finally decided on a new motor instead. Any opinions on the Yamaha? I have only owned mercury's before and leary about changing.

Great on gas, burns no oil, quiet as a mouse.

If you liked your Mercury, you will love a Yamaha!

went from mercury on our last boat to the yamaha 150 4 stroke on the new one and wont even considering going back to mercury. The yamaha 150 4 stroke is great on gas and has not given us a single problem yet in over a year, love it

Thanks. All good responses so far I grew up in a mercury family and have owned 3.
I am putting it on a new xpress 20 ft center console.

I have a 22' Bay Series CC.
Mine runs 52 empty and 48 loaded down.

My buddy has a 20', the ride on mine is much different in rough water.
You still get a little wet but you don't lose your fillings on the way back to the launch.

Yeah, I wanted to stay small enough to be able to still fish bass and bream in marsh and basin. Looks like it will be ok for that, not too big.

Fished mine in Big Alabama a few weeks ago...went all the way back in the Narrows.
My boat runs very shallow.

The Yamaha 150 four stroke is probably the most bullet proof motor in current production. Do any kind of research and you will like what you find.

Pretty much the same boat my dad has but he went with the 2 stroke for some odd reason.

It will probably end up being one of the best motors ever made.

Pretty much bullet proof
