Don't recall any issues with Vmax but HPDI had its share of woes. That was the era when "if we just inject fuel at an extreme pressure in tiny bits it'll make for killer fuel mileage". Though Merc still runs that tech these days via Opti with success, obviously it wasn't the big wave of the future as initially thought...4stroke still won out. Somethin about putting things under high pressure doesn't seem to bode well for long term durability. Good luck fishin' guys, whatever gets you out there and back!

You haven't made a valid point against the motor yet
Boats, I have said more than once in this thread that it's a good motor...dependable. Lighten up...I'm frikking with people. I don't like Yamaha. I don't like 4 stroke technology because it's slow, heavy, isn't as efficient as you say and I wanna hear my motor scream. But mainly, it's because I have a Mercury...and have had no issues with it whatsoever. It has performed flawlessy. Lastly, I knew from the first few responses I could get some people fired up a bit. It worked...lol.

I've owned an Opti 225 SWS
What year model? Because that can be an awful lot like saying "I had a 6.0 Ford diesel and therefore I won't ever own another Ford". If you had owned a Yamaha HPDI in the early years you would likely be singing a different tune.
