No brow tines at all. Not even a little bump where they should be. I know you can't tell much from the pic as far as age but he was 20 yards from me today and Id bet my life he is a 2 yr old.

Fwiw, I believe he should be shot but damn Id like to see what he would be as a 3 yr old. I passed him today because he is a local and on all my cameras. Really wanna let a kid shoot him

It's why I deer hunt. I could buy prime cut steaks for a year on what I spend on hunting. It ain't the meat I'm after. It's the challenge and the sportsmanship. It's making the land and deer herd the best it can be. meat comes from does. Horns from bucks.

If your sure he's only 2 yr old , no. But that's a lot of height and mass for a 2 yr old.

Absolutely sure he is 2. Like I said, no sign of a brow time at all. Had pics of him last spring and he was a big forked horn 4.

I'm with you FT. Take pride in your stock and see what he does next year. If he's the same or regresses then cull him.

Sure he can go next door chasing sone arse and get shot but if you shoot him he has 0 chance. Keep us posted brother.

No, but I'd shoot his arse if he is still a big 4 next year

Not disagreeing with you, I was mostly messing with ya, but good meat comes from 4pts also I spend money on my license and gas to drive about 30 minutes a hunt per year. I'll admit, I"m a cheap hunter, but 2-3 deer is all I need to fill up the deep freeze and I'm good.

Depends on what you want your herd to look like. I let a 2 year old 4 pt walk a few years back with about a 16 in spread. No brows.

BIL killed him the next year as a 6(with brows) about 20in wide. We were happy we let him walk.

This is what I always struggle with. Bucks are responsible for 50% of the genetics in their offspring. This buck has some characteristics I like and some I don't. if he breeds up it works out well, if he breeds some trash then it'll be one more crappy deer.

Guess I'll give him a pass this year unless a kid gets a shot

Let him walk. Research indicates that killing "cull" bucks has very little impact on overall herd genetic diversity unless you have a VERY tightly managed deer herd. You need thousands of acres or a high fence for your efforts to make a difference.

I love unique racks. A giant slick 4 or maybe a slick 6 next year would be cool as shite to me. On the other hand, if your freezer is empty and it's close to the end of the season, I would ground check that bastard. And I agree it would be a neat kill for a kid.

I have deer like this on my property as well in Angie, LA, big bodied 4 points with little to no brow tines. From the ones I've been able to keep up with they do eventually grow brow tines and additional points. I think it's just a lack of nutrition from our browse.
Let him walk and see him grow, it he doesn't, take him next year, he's not doing any harm as a 2 yr old
I'd prefer the wider racks like him with a chance to fill it in then the basket racks that make up a good bit of my herd
