The 2005 Mercury 115 EFI on our Boston Whaler 160 Dauntless bit the dust. Something to do with saltwater corrosion and now everything except the lower unit is fricked. Boat's in mint condition.
Sell, repower, what? Don't know if we wanna drop the $$ on a new outboard but have no idea what to do.

next time flush your motor and replace the anodes
there are used Yamaha F115s and F150s all over the place for 6 to 8 grand
if the transom is in good shape I'd hold on the the dauntless

A Mercury is made by Yamaha? Serious question.

Does the Whaler fit your needs? If so, find a replacement engine, new or used. I'm only suggesting this because that hull is one that holds its value more than a lot of others.

If it were me, I'm selling the whaler. While they're great boats, they do nothing for me in that size range in Louisiana waters. Dad has 17 mantauk and it rides like crap.
