It just makes me laugh when considering a guy like my uncle, who's been an ATF agent for 30+ years.

And he could not be a bigger gun nut, hunter, nor advocate of the Right to Bear Arms.

okie,
I've never met your uncle, although from your descriptioin, it sounds like I'd enjoy doing so. I bet we could sit around, swap stories, go shooting, etc and have a grand time. I'll admit to my share of "ATF hating", just like I suspect most gun rights advocates do. The problem for your uncle is that although the vast majority of ATF agents may be fine people we'd all enjoy being around, we can't help but be suspecious of the agency as a WHOLE, (especially it's leadership at the top) given its history w/ some very questionable activities (the Randy Weaver shooting, Waco, "Fast and Furious and I'm sure many more that have managed to stay under the radar). Because of this, your uncle, and many other fine ATF employees, get painted w/ the same colors as do the bad guys at the ATF. But IIRC, "Fast and Furious" came to light because of ATF whistleblowers on the inside.

If it being the law made it right we wouldn't have any reason to resist more gun control laws.

Just sayin...

Faxis man you're going apples to oranges man. There is a system in place for you, me, or any other joe schmoe to buy and sell guns. You apply for an FFL, go through the process and you are 100% legal.

Thats not "gun control" per se, thats just the government regulating the industry which is no different that you or I applying for a business license in a certain parish.

The gun control laws offer no way around it, they are effectively limiting your God given rights by saying "you can't have this, no ifs, ands, or buts about it."

I get what your saying man, I really do but I think you're a bit off base about it.

And to everybody dick hurt about "arguing" this is a "discussion" thread, where discussions happen. Nobody is name calling (that I know of) just having some healthy mind stimulating discussion. It helps us younger folk not get affected by the mind diseases that have plagued OG and other old timers around here that forget what they're doing while velcroing their shoes.

ok. read this whole thread before i asked this.

how is he beating you in line every time?

is it not possible to be there earlier or is it a situation of the trucks coming in and he just "happens" to be in front of you every time one is in stock?

He's definitely dedicated. He gets to Walmart at 5:30 to wait in line for a 10:30 truck that often times doesn't even have a gun. Does this M-F.

He gets to Academy as early as 2:30 MWF and asks the first crew to come in around 4:30 or so (truck comes in those days between 3:45-4:15) if they've gotten any guns. If they do, he stays.

Starting my new job Monday and will be training M-F for the next 6 weeks starting Monday. So tomorrow morning, I will be in line at Academy at 1:30am hoping they got something in. I may dance in front of the guy if they do.

Oh and whomever said that the Walmart manager and/or the academy manager was in on this deal may have been on to something.

The ATF agent called me today and says the Walmart manager he spoke with had only seen him purchase that single Bushmaster from Wednesday. I really haven't been hitting Walmart in particular that hard and I've seen him by 3 ARs up there in the 2 times I've been looking/waiting for one.

Pretty wild...

well if that's the case and he's not getting help from Wal-Mart or Academy, then good for him.

I mean not the flipping guns and selling illegally, but for effort at least.
