You shoot a bird that drops near other standers. While you over near them looking for your downed bird others fly overhead. Do you shoot at the new overhead birds while you are out of position near the other stands?

No. That's their spot, their opportunity. Put yourself in their shoes.

ETA: I guess if it was a smaller friendly thing, then yeah, blast away. I was thinking of the larger 60+ ppl shoots where i usually know only a few ppl

Depends if I’m in a field with friends we are normally cutting up and would have no problem shooting their birds.

In a field where I do t know anyone I would only shoot if guys near me emptied their guns first.

I mostly hunt with close friends so I actually relish the opportunity to walk nearby, flaunt my birds in their face, call them peckerwood jackasses, and then blast away at their birds.

It’s one of the main things I look forward to opening day.

I would give them chance to shoot first. But basically no, I wouldn’t shoot

I’ve never not shot in that situation, and I’m sure I’d get ridiculed for not pulling the trigger.

We have always treated dove hunting as a more communal, social activity.

I guess if you are on a pay-to-hunt operation with a bunch of other folks you don’t know, I might could see the difference.

That is basically the way I approach it, particularly at my dove club with a larger membership and we aren’t all buddies.

Right. Chances are I’m coming to sit on your ice chest if you are in a better spot than me and shoot all your doves.

On a dove hunt, if it flies, it dies.
