Nothing to it.
Semi-submersible clear cork you can find at Wal-Mart there, not here.
Fill it halfway with water, slide 2 inches of a red, yellow, white, McDonalds straw on your line and tie a treble hook at the end.
Pull the straw down to cover the treble, cast, and pop. Whatever is in the vicinity will hit it. Ladyfish about 90% in my experience.

You can launch the yak across the road from the FloraBama. Remember that the south side of Old River in this area is FL waters.

Good and black mirrordean wore that arse out tonight under the lights. Caught very little specs on shrimp tonight.
Totally different conditions tonight and totally different hairs worked tonight. I got lucky having those mirrordeans on me cause others back at the dock didn't have any luck.

He's right. I've caught a ton of mackerel using this same thing but when I was in Florida. Not kings, not Spanish or Cero but another kind, I forget the name. About the size of a good Spanish mackerel. You wouldn't think 2 inches of a McDonalds straw would catch any fish but it does.
I still have the rig in my tackle box.

What is screwed up about this whole situation? You and I don't seem to catch any fish when we go (behind the scenes joke people) LOL. Your wife messaged me and said yall were killing them I guess you couldn't take the pole out of your hand long enough. Fishing trip when I get back!!!!

What kind of boat are you in? I know blue water isnt far out over there. I trolled 2 rattletraps a few miles off the beach and caught a king (nasty arse fish IMO but still fun)

Yea I'd be offshore trolling around where the water changes color if the seas are calm. Although I'm not the most knowledgable, and may have gotten lucky in my yak, but that's all we did when I took a charter there.

Have in the past, but not lately. Fishing Little Lagoon mostly and off the beach for pompano.

May give offshore a try today. Not real confident in the whole single motor thing and all.
Yeah Mike, was busy helping my baby girl catch trout after trout all night. She stayed out till 12:00 fishing with me. Funny how excited they get when they're catching.

Thats sure a rewarding feeling watching you little girl catch fish. Better than catch em yourself!
Hopefully I can catch a few myself down there

just come through the canal to mobile bay and hit up the rigs at the mouth. there are some big triple tail there. and a 30 min boat ride south to the other rigs will get you some snapper(Yes i know the season is closed) and amber jack. maybe even a few grouper. easy ride if the weather works out.

If any of your like crabbing and our in the Fort Morgan area, there is a great saltwater brackish pond behind the fort itself. At least it was there years ago and I assume it still is. Me and friend of mine stumbled upon it in grade school while his dad was trying to catch a shark on the bay side of Fort Morgan. The lagoon/marsh/pond was shallow and clear and absolutely covered in soft shell and hard shell crab. Literally all you needed is a net and and ice chest.

fishing the lit piers in the bay...All on live shrimp 1 1/2' under a clip on cork
I lived on Cotton Bayou one summer and fed myself that entire summer doing this. I'd pull in specs and reds all night. Coast in to a lit dock, cast right under the light, and they'd hit within a couple seconds.
The best dock is the police dock right at the bridge. They get pretty pissy when you pull up there and they'll give you a ticket, so best not let them see you, but it's the best one in the bay. Worth the risk.

Is doing this better by the pass? Or do most of the lit piers hold fish?
