when this case makes it to court the collective surgery staff present that day will want to know "what snake?"

What if she had a clown phobia and someone walked in dressed like a clown? Would the hospital be responsible if she hurt herself under those circumstances?

Depends on whether it was a clown or a juggalo. If the latter, ICP would be responsible under the doctrine of respondeat superior.
