I saw that email. Hopefully it means we are on the brink of better times if they have enough on hand to send emails before they sell out

God I hope so if they become plentiful I will make it a point to buy a hundred here and there so I am not caught with my pants down again. Same with powder

I really stocked up heavily prior to everything going to crap.

I saw those #41 primers in Bass Pro in Pearl, MS today for $10 each. They have small pistol primers too. Vans in Brandon, MS has several bricks of small pistol. Starting to see primers in stores more now. Might as well buy in store when you can to not pay hazmat and shipping.

No, buy by the thousand. If you have a powder that works buy the 5lb or 8lb jugs.

Thx for the update. Quick question for other bandleaders. Although I've been handloading a long time, I've never compared military SR primers vs regular SR primers in a bolt action gun. Has anyone here done this and what did you find? Were there signifiant differences in loads (powder charge, chamber pressures, accuracy, etc) or are the loads interchangeable??

The cup is harder in a military primer but it should still go bang. I only load for bolt guns and have 6500 federal primer so I haven't tried any military primers in my guns.

They are pretty much the same as CCI 450s
There is a thread on them from snipers hide.
Won’t link but will post some quotes:

41's are designed for military 5.56. The cup metal is either slightly harder or is slightly thicker. My chrono testing showed near zero difference when compared to the CCI 41 and the CCI 450.

How Was the SD/ES between the 450 and he winchester 41 primers?
quote:
450's I get SD of 9-25, depending on powder used, Win 41's SD are 10-35.
450's ES 25-50 and Win 41's 20-65.
My results were fairly consistent with the differences according to powder used. I think, not real positive, it has more to do with how full the case is than the actual primer for reliable and consistent ignition.
Of course, with component availability the way it is, just shoot what you can get.
I was/am using a bolt action .223AI and a MagneetoSpeed for these results.

Great info from both of y'all. Thx. Like I said, I've wondered that, but never made the comparison myself nor run a google search. Last summer I bought #400 CCI 450 primers. I exclusively use regular, non-magnum SR primers. I plan on comparing CCI 400 vs 450 in one of my guns this summer, probably the 223 Ackley Improved XP-100.

I use the 450 for 6.5 creedmoor. I’m using Lapua SR brass and Starline SR.
