It's BS. The other guys are going to use whatever they can get so should we. I hate how politicians think they know the solutions to everything

There should be no rules in "war". You should go into it knowing all things are on the table and possible. If you don't like that then go knit a scarf.

No man. We don't and should not operate that way.

War is supposed to be honorable. There are several "laws of land warfare" that are honorable but our current adversaries ignore.

Read the Geneva Convention

That's a very common myth.

The ban on use of hollow-point ammo is actualyl from the Hague Convention of 1899. It prohibited the use of bullets that easily expand or flatten in the body.

Geneva Convention focused more on the treatment of POW's and thus the formation of the Red Cross.

It's an archaic restriction from another time. Fact is, if our enemies chose to use hollow points now, we'd be much better off since they'd stop in the body armor a lot easier than FMJ does.

I find it the height of hypocrisy that while we wouldn't ever allow our guys to use them to kill a terrorist, Homeland Security just bought a billion and a half of them to use on US. And not a peep of indignation from those who would freak out if we shot at our enemies with them.

The absurdity of an honorable war is one of the reasons so many more people get killed over so much longer a period now. Nowadays war is forever. The public doesn't even consider it odd that we have been in a state of perpetual war with Americans getting maimed and killed by the thousands for how long now???? It certainly doesn't make the daily news cycle anymore. But of course now that it's Obama fighting it, it's a 'good' war. No reason to protest it or hold a light on it to show what's actually happening anymore. That's just for when those warmongering Republicans are doing it.

I've already been corrected on my reference to the Geneva versus Hague Conventions so my ignorance and retardation has been established. But aren't we using drones? So are we really concerned about the rules?

Are you implying that we should ignore international treaties in order to stoop to the level of terrorists?

Currently we are not fighting wars w/ any parties that have signed onto the Geneva or Hague Conventions. Our ongoing "war" is against parties that do not recognize international treaties. Personally, I don't have a problem NOT following "the rules of war" when the enemy doesn't recognize nor participate in these very same rules. Should we drag their bodies through the streets or broadcast their beheading on the internet? Nope. But I wouldn't be against using a round that is technologically superior to a FMJ if it improves our chances of winning the battle or "war."

So we're comparing hollow point ammo to cooking people alive in ovens?

Were you ever in the military? Have you seen what our current "enemy" is capable of? Their leaders either convince some guy who can't read that the bible says that it is ok to kill himself and a bunch of other people, or threaten to kill some guys family if he doesn't. And the one's that they use for foot soldiers have no problem using any means necessary to kill. Why shouldn't we be able to use hollow points? They are much better at stopping a target than FMJ. That is not an opinion either, it's proven fact.

And where did this come from?

A BILLION AND A HALF ROUNDS

If you believe that's just for use on planes by air marshals you are terribly naive.

It's a question of where rules end and begin.
