I am supposed to be hunting outside of Montgomery next weekend. My friend told me the rumor over there is the government is shutting down travel on interstates and highways soon. I just don’t think that is possible.

Depending on the weather either going to go chase a long beard or try and get on some specks early next week.

If found that turkeys don’t gobble after flying down when it’s cloudy.

Two early gobblers, of course the hot bird was in other field. I knew these damn birds so I would not bite and waited for the Tom by me to light up. He did and 20 minutes later, I didn’t very faint Yelp call he gobbled and started my way, I did one more when he was about 20 yards out, he gobbled, and I went silent. Never heard or saw him again. I am assuming he got picked off by hen. I was only person to even hear shite in our area. Hens were weirdly quiet. Maybe too early for yelps? Both birds were gobbling after they flew down.

Hunted until 11:00 but that was really it.

The freaking mosquitoes were off the scales bad. Two thermals snd went through a can of spray and was still getting eaten alive. Any ideas here bayou boys. I called it when I had eaten so many I was starting to cough. Swarms of bugs and I have face mask hat, but they were still all over me.

In sum, the toms are ready, bugs are bad, get them before they cancel it

If he was 20 yds away and you call, if he didn’t see a hen where you were... he gonna bug out

If the bird was 20 yards out why isn’t he dead? You trying to catch him with your hands?

Didn’t get to go opening weekend but the reports I heard from Monroe County were that the biting gnats are at an all time high.

We are still a week away from the youth hunt in La and two weeks from season.

Went out to listen this morning, at daylight where I know they are at and heard nothing. Off and on light rain.

Hope to look at them before I take my son this weekend.

Did see two hens down the road on the way out
