The one on he left which has a solid wall all the way up to the pot, and has an opening on the side facing the propane tank.

Or

The one on the right which is solid all the way around but has an opening crack all around the top for heat to escape upward apparently?

Neither one because you cant adapt it to any other pot.

It's not an oven, the "heat escape" doesn't mean much of anything. Your cooking heat is coming from direct fire to iron heat, not ambient heat

I don’t want to adapt it to any other pot.

My larger pots have cooking ring stands and I slide one of my other natural gas or propane burners underneath the stand

With that being said
Which design do you prefer?

The one on left has 4 wheels
Right has 3 wheels if that means anything

Don't like either because you are limited to only one pot size for that particular burner. I'd never waste my money on one that wasn't multi functional.

Well the one on the right is better because it will allow better air flow and less soot on the pot. I dont like either one though

Personally, I'd rather the design with the opening around the top. If for no other reason than it allows heat to escape relatively uniformly around the pot. I doubt that matters much though. Jambalaya is cooked at a pretty low temp when it really matters (after rice is added and top put on).

Do you think one would be better than the other if you were blazing up the heat really hot to cook cracklins?

And for blazing heat really hot for second fry of some pork cracklins, which would be better?

Again I am fine with this stand being limited to only this one specific pot. I have another rig up that I use for my larger pots.

3 points are always on a plane, 4 are rarely going to be level

I’d go by this advice. Really, I don’t think either setup will cook differently.

I have the one on the right, and its great.
Honestly, it doesn't matter between the two.

I doubt you'd notice a difference but the one on the right would heat more evenly.

Did you purchase it in Baton Rouge?
If so, where?

Also are you able to fire it up really hot to fry cracklins?

I like and have the R&R design personally. Having an opening all the way around allows you know where to stand away from excess Heat. Also if the wind is blowing you're going to get wind from any Direction with the second version

Do the 4 wheels cause unlevel issues like above people describe? As oppose to 3 wheels?
