Do you still content that people do not refer to spinners as opened faced?
I can only go off my real life experiences, and like I said before, literally no one that I have encountered in all my years in the fishing community, that include bass clubs, tournaments, etc have commonly referred to spinning reels as open faced.
If that makes me sheltered, then a shite ton of fisherman in this world have been sheltered from it.

If someone can't appreciate a thread like this for pure entertainment value, they are doing this wrong. The only thing that would make this better is if Downshift would be up in here and started calling you names.

Nah, there has been way worse than Chad.

Open faced reel isn't the technical term for a spinning reel.
it isn't the common term either

I thought if it could be prolonged, we could draw him in.

It's neither the technical term nor the common term but it's the overwhelming google result.

I suspected it before, but now I am convinced you are mentally handicapped

Yeah, we get that. No one is saying baitcasters are not open faced. At least I don't think. We are saying spinners are referred to that as well. You and pogeypussy are confusing the issues.

So let me get this straight a spin cast is an open face? Or a bait cast is an open face? I am so confused. I call a spin cast a spinning reel and a bait cast by whatever the name is curado, calcutta, the pos abu etc...
FTR I loathe spin cast reels, but they are sometimes a necessary evil.

and I'm just saying that I have yet to encounter anyone that commonly refers to them as open faced

quote:No. Spin cast is a pencil sharpener like a Zebco 33. Closed. as in-it has a cover over its face.
So let me get this straight a spin cast is an open face?
quote:Yes.
bait cast is an open face?
In any event, using open faced as a term is so vague as to be useless. The only context I actually hear it used to to eliminate pencil sharpeners.
