When is it no longer 'hunting'?

This popped up on my fb, I'm guessing it's a paid hunt, but it seems a bit much. I usually fill my freezer, give some meat to family, then trophy hunt. I don't get off by slaughtering deer. I'd rather take a nice buck, then back off and let someone else get one as well.

I would venture to say that it is no longer hunting when these bucks all walked into the camp and asked if they could pull up a bar stool and talk about pussy.

Do you hunt over a feeder or a food plot?
My take on this is if you don't have a lot of land or you can't otherwise manage your deer, it's a huge crap shoot. I see nicer deer on the side of I-10 than most guys will ever see in their swamp leases.
ETA: are you saying one hunter took all of those?

I recently got out of a lease because it was a feeder paradise. The guys working shift work could keep the deer in their area with feed and they took all the big bucks. 9-5 guys like myself who couldn't feed all week didn't see as many deer.
I like to hunt oaks that drop a lot of acorns. Maybe I'm old school, but I'm kinda against bait hunting for the most part.
Baiting is not allowed at our out-of-state land and we have a small lease in-state where it's not necessary.

Yes, 1 hunter, 6 bucks over the course of a weekend.
That's not why I hunt.. I could not kill anything all year and still enjoying hunting, this IMO, takes the fun out of it when it becomes a pay to play sport.

To each his own, where do you draw the line? High fence, low fence? 300 acre fenced ranch, 6000 acre fenced ranch? Shooting quail some oneone put out earlier that day? Going on a guided duck hunt and sitting in a blind that the guide set up and put out decoys , does all the calling and tells you when to stand up and shoot? Going on a guided fishing trip and the guide says to throw this bait over there?
I think there should be full disclosure, when you show some one a picture to tell them it was in a fenced situation etc, but at the end of the day to each his own
ETA : my disclosure I have been on guided duck hunts, quail shoots, guided fishing trips but have never been on a paid deer hunt or hunter in a high fence situation

I have two bucks mounted that aren't half as good as any of those, but I'm proud of them. I can't say I'd be proud to mount one of those.

is this someone you know? I would hate to have to pay the taxi bill must less the cost of the hunt.
that being said, those would look great on my wall.

So what state are you hunting in that allows 6 bucks to be taken by 1 hunter.

I doubt very seriously, Doo knows for 100% that one guy killed all.of those. Yeah it was on his Facebook, but its most likely from his club. This is a silly thread.

I don't.
It was an out of state hunt, the person said they did. The state (Illinois) from what I looked up, gives a quota of permits for deer to be taken by firearm. Feel free to correct me.
They either-own the land and harvested their quota, or went on a trip where the landowner sells the tags.
In either situation, my point is... do you call that hunting? To spend a weekend in the woods and hang a head on the wall? I enjoy the challenge of scouting and hunting.

Absolutely.

It is what it is. If you have the money, you want venison, you don't have enough time because of work, wouldn't you want to go to Illinois to hunt trophy venison? I love the challenge of hunting as well, but I would love to go on a trophy hunt once a year. Only with a bow.

Thanks, don't post much on the OB, just looking for opinion is all.
From the other threads talking about scent lock and technology in a different generation of hunting got me thinking when one draws the line to call themselves a 'hunter' and not say a shooter.
I still hunt only, because that's all my pow and pow pow have ever done, curious as to what others think.

Hunting is only fun for me when it is on my land (or on public land) that I manage, scout, and place stands on, then drag the deer out, clean and eat myself. On someone else's land that someone else did all the work on, it feels much more like shooting a goat. I am one guy who will never be caught going on a paid whitetail hunt no matter how rich I am.

Not particularly.
I've never been much for trophies. I'll shoot anything that's legal, or anything the property owners/managers want killed. Doe tastes just like buck as far as I'm concerned.

I would wager that is taken in the NE or midwest, where they may have a one week or similarly short season. All the hunters go out at once, and stack them like cordwood. It seems excessive to us, because we have a 2-3 month gun season, and spread the kills out over time. I highly doubt one person shot all those deer.

Yet you have two parcels of private hunting land.
I would bet that is Iowa, and Mung is right. They go out and drive hunt one weekend a year. And shoot ERRYYYTHING. Sounds like a war, The locals hate deer.
