I met Preston Pittman in 1988
EF, you mention some of the very best in this business. Preston, Jim, David, Harold, Fred.
There was an honor code amongst those men for sure.

Api, Strongbuilt, Amacker,
Bought my first climber from a hardware store in Ruston, a Amaker. Then, later on bought my first hanging stand out of the seconds pile at the Amaker plant.

I did some consulting work with John Paris who started Bowhunter Tree Stands. Their fabrication shop was based out of Sondheimer. Also worked with Paul Meeks, Dr, Ray McIntyre (Warren & Sweat) John Woller (Summit), John Louk (Ol Man), and Ben Southard (Loc On) back in the early 1990's just before they created the TMA. Lots of lawsuits were happening and the TMA was formed to promote safety and reduce injuries. Around this same time safety belts and harnesses were included with every tree stand purchase

That is some amazing consulting connections. Cool. I know about those times. Was hunting in that era . Talked to John in Hattisburg. Bought & still have the first Old Man made in Hattisburg. I don't use it any more . But it was king thru the 1990's.
Who can forget about the Loc on Lem . And that magazine ad for Loc on Highstyle, with the skeleton in the treestand.

How so? Shockey is all about hunting. What do you think would happen if we posted the same thing on the political forum? As far as that goes are you some kind of forum NAZI? Are all subjects under your control? Are you wound too tight? Does the subject matter hurt you somewhere? Show us on a doll where it hurts you the most.

Businesses that want to survive should not take positions on politics. Either way.

frick off. Not even on the OB can you avoid the TD Karens.
Jim is a leader in the hunting/outdoor community. This is the correct board to discuss topics related to that.

I honestly still do not know who Jim is. I watch No TV hunting since the early 1990's. I assume from reading here that he must be a regular on TV in today's times. For me, hunting is still a rural pastime. No ESPN type game . No such thing as pro staffers, pros, etc. Just a rural pastime. Clean the deer, close the barn doors, go do chores. End of hunt.

When you really dissect hunting today, and examine it like a CSI, to see where hunting went astray, one will easily see that we are our own problem.
Now i know it went on even way back when Fred Bear stepped off that amphib airplane, and that box of BEAR arrows always just happened to be Label facing the camera.
But, good ole boys who live in rural areas, hunting was just a pastime. Put the thing down in the truck bed, go home & clean it. End. Maybe if it was big , stop at the feed store & show the boys. Boom, end of it. Next place, freezer. Go work on the tractor.
Today, its like an ESPN game. Celebrity wanna be's. You must wear that funny looking bean hat to be in tune with today. Run to facebook. Post all the pics. You should hear all the noise today's turkey hunters are making, having seen that on TV. One good thing coming from all that racket- todays Toms are living into another year. Getting bigger.
Fox news posting good looking girls with exotic kills, and pumping their chest up when anticipated opposition comes. They are hurting hunting. Better to just keep to yourself, put the kill down in the truck bed, and go home- period. Hunt for yourself.
People DESIRE conflict. " I shouldn't have to hide my sport" ....them. i'll tell them ....
Therein, is the problem. We knew it way back. Low key . No celebrities.

I wear a "funny looking bean hat" because I'm bald. Yes, there are a few how like to post there kills, but social media is not killing hunting, and if it get a few kids interested in the outdoors I'm all for it. By the way I have posted three deer in my life, and it was all kills my kids have made.

Jim isn’t like that. His shows are very high quality production value. He’s not going out to sit in a blind with full face paint to hunt a high fence property and hyping it up like he’s playing in the super bowl. I agree with you that those types are a negative for the sport.

The Canadian government and its COVID restrictions directly impact his businesses. No guided hunts through his outfitter. No travel to film hunts. Few visitors to his museum.
It’s odd that he hasn’t said more considering how negatively impacted his livelihood has been.
