For the first time ever, I scattered out a quart bag of corn in front of my game camera one morning.

Only had a couple of birds the first day/night. The next morning a sounder of 15-20 hogs showed up. They spent 45 minutes feeding before leaving.

After that, had a few does and a couple of hog pictures in the next couple days, but none stayed very long.

I don't think a 50 lb bag would last long in that spot.

Sounder wiped it out. Hogs did same on our place in tensas

Went to joint vetch summer plots and quit supplemental feeding.

I’ve got some amazing clay peas right now.

Curious how the stressed oaks from drought will produce this year

The place I hunted in South Texas last year uses Cottonseed feed. They put it out in what is basically hay cribs. Said they mixed it with corn initially until they got used to it.

Peas in Mississippi by itself doing amazing

In tensas, after first year the deer wouldnt let the peas get above 6 inches. Started mixed peas with JV at that point

I’m just gonna invest more time in better food plots and make sure the pH is right. Plan to plant some fruit/water chestnut trees, but that may take 5+ years to yield any results.

I’ll try to buy some bulk corn and get a break and cut way back on the feeding.

I had many problems w hogs. Ruined food plots. Feeders. Every attempt I made was useless.

So now I’m gonna rely on mock scrapes more and more.

Just a T post with some wire around it. Just build a cylinder and the T post keeps it upright.

Couldn’t get cotton seed in bulk today so I’m probably done for the year.

Starting in September I’ll triple my corn feeding and feed a 50lb bag every time I hunt.

I hate to say it, but I have a stand I do this on.
Seems like I have to if I want to be hunting over corn.
50 lbs out Tuesday at 3pm is gone by 5am Wednesday

Those ASF 600lb feeders are awesome.

I bought one January 20th, set for 7 seconds at noon each day. Topped it back off June 23rd with 10 sacks.

We burned 1/3 of our property so we are starting to see some serious browsing foods pop up.

Don’t use scents on the mock scrapes. Deer will drop their own scent and make it more effective.
