Tried to leave it alone. Mom came back but left again. Born next to a river and river is coming up due to rain. Its about to be in water.

So if someone were to go get it, what to do?

Why do you think mama won’t come back?

Needs a bottle. Go to co-op or tractor supply and get the stuff for a bottle.

Trust me and don’t allow anyone to post pictures of it on Facebook. Or this will happen.

Probably will, but its 100 yards from the river sitting on a road. Water came up over road and it just laid in the water.

ETA: if left where it was, itd have drowned.

It is normal for the mother to leave them. They only come back to feed them. I would leave it in the same spot you found it. If the mother is alive she will find it again.
The one we got was because the mother was hit by a car at the end of our driveway.

Mama ain’t coming back with you in the woods watching. Clear the area and the mother will be with her dawn within 3 hours.

Not like clear the area but they’ll stray no further than maybe 100 yards. Mother usually beds downwind less than 25 yards of fawns.

To OP, fawn will be ok. Clear the area and give it a few hours.

A little flour to roll it in, a little butter to fry.

A little white wine.

Seems late in the season for a newborn fawn. Probably a fawn that momma is trying to ween.

I guarantee we have fawns that aren't even born yet in our club.

Thanks, probably wont need it, but we had to move it. This area is a neighborhood thats in a swamp. It was born on the driveway today so thats where it's staying. Wind changes and water goes over the driveway 6+". Just wanted to get them something in case they cant get out and the mom cant get to them. We moved it probably 100yds so it wouldnt drown. Watched it gone from bone dry to laying in 3" of water.

I have a lot of deer that come to my backyard to eat the corn. The fawns usually drop around the middle of August. Last year I had two fawns still very much spotted show up by themselves. It was obvious that their mom had died. I didn’t think they had much of chance with all the coyotes in the area. However they kept returning and today they are still together one a doe the other is on his way to being a six point and still not quiet a year old. Their ability to survive is amazing.
