I have a sks and marlin 30-30.
sks little cheaper to shoot but never use the thing, so dang loud and not practical for nothing. love hunting with 30-30. They are proven hunters over time

I already have an AK, but a Saiga would be an upgrade. SKS's have gotten too expensive. Pre-Obam when they were around 200 bucks I would have jumped on one in a heartbeat.

I used to use my dad's 30-30 all the time. I already have rifles to hunt with, so that would be more of nostalgia to me.

They are GREAT truck guns for riding around the property if you leave it open sight.

ETA: This is a very cool lever gun as well. Pops used to have one in .44 mag and it was a blast to shoot

I have always wanted a lever action rifle so that one gets my vote. However if you don't already have an AR that red jacket rifle looks pretty damn sweet.

Yeah I have a Marlin 30-30 and a Winchester 30-30 (open sights, ejects out the top), and an AK.

I looked at a sweet 357 at Hebert Guns this weekend. Thinking of swapping my wife's 380 for it.

if you plan on shooting them, .223 ammo is the most efficient

I love my 30 30 lever, and would love to get another lever in 357 or 45 just for plinking. 357 ammo is not very expensive.

I have #1. I fear it may never fire another round. Holding in just in case the 5yo suddenly develops an interest in the outdoors.

Yeah. I want a .357 that will shoot .38's as well. I can hand load .38sp wadcutters for target usage, shooting crows, etc. for really cheap.

Damn, now yall got me wanting a 30-30. I used to hunt with a marlin, loved that gun. What do yall think of Henry lever actions?

BTW, I wouldn't buy the RJF AR15 because they are a little overpriced. I know it's :beatdeadhorse: but you should BUILD one. It's cheaper and much more fulfilling!

They have a good reputation, but I really have had great luck with Marlin leverguns.

And for sheer looks and options... I like Uberti.

I have an old Marlin .30-30 that hasn't been shot in 20years. Still have it but just don't shoot it. Ever.

An AK is a perfect gun to throw behind the seat of your truck and have for what ever. Ammo is cheap and easy to find and the guns aren't very expensive either.

An AR is a really fun gun to shoot and ammo is cheap and easy to find as well. AR are very easy to work on and there are so many after market parts you can do pretty much anything you would want to one. Like Lou said, build it yourself. It's so easy and cheaper.

The pistol: personnally I'd want a 4 inch barrel on a .357 (probably because that's what I have) but it's a perfect gun to put on your belt when going to check camera's, riding some trails, keep in the truck for PD, etc.

For me, I would probably buy the pistol or the AR first, the AK 3rd, and then the .30-30 (although I would rather have a lever action is a pistol caliber)

Dayum.

I really want a .410 Lever Action. I told my wife that if our baby is a boy I'm buying him a gun for his birth. Deciding between Marlin Lever Action .410, Henry Golden Boy Lever Action .22, Ruger 10/22, or an 870 (28, 20, or 410).

I wouldn't spend a bunch of money on a youth sized gun. Just because he will outgrow it very quickly. Just my 2 cents. If you want to buy him a nice gun, and tuck it away for 14 years of so, that would be a fantastic thing to bring out of hiding on a teenager's birthday.

You can get him any old youth gun to learn, and give him an heirloom you've been saving for him when he can finally hold it up.

I like the Marlin 39A...

Probably the finest .22LR lever gun on the market. And... its a take down.

edit: FWIW... my 9 year old shoots a full sized .22LR just fine, as long has he do so from a rest. He'll be using my Marlin 981T at the Appleseed Project this year.

It's only about 1,000. I think that's a pretty good price for that AR.

FWIW, I already own an AR and a AK. But the more the merrier right?

I think the 30-30 deal is gonna fall through. So looks like I have to choose between 3 now.

You were launching 10 gauge shells at doves?

I probably still couldn't have hit any in that wind.
