ive been out to the first rigs in 3s in a 21 foot aluminum bay boat.

Depends on size of the boat – I’ve been in 15-20’ seas but it was a 600’ boat so no worries, in 15’ seas a crew boat is no fun. In most sports boats anything more the 4’ takes the fun out. I did go offshore in 31 contender in 4-6’s and it was doable while running but fishing was sloppy and a PITA.

well I have been in the North Sea conducting prompt and sustained combat operations at sea in 30 footers... . but I much preferred the moderate to light chop in the gulf of sidra.... I would not have wanted to be on a small boy in the north sea.........


fishing.... any more than 4 ' to 5' it ain't much fun.....

Anything more than two footers and I'm out, and preferably one footers like this.

The OP must have a steel back or a 100 foot boat fishing in those 5 footers!
