I just prefer the look and feel of wood
I know synthetic is realy practical.

Depends on the gun for me. I'd rather not on the deer rifle.

I would like to have a Remington 700 VTR in .308 I really like the looks of that triangular barrel with top cut muzzle break. My buddy has one with a Zeiss Conquest 800 rapid Z and it is a damn sweet setup. Hard to justify another deer rifle when I already have 4
5 if you count my chinese sniper rifle

OB's suggestions with regards to .270, 30.06, .300 or any other typical Louisiana deer hunting?
My 2 cents on the rifle to recomend would be a bolt action: Remington, Winchester, Savage, Sako, Browning, Tikka, or Ruger. No matter, pick one they're all good.
Caliber: 260, 7-08, 308, 25-06, 270, 280, 30-06, or 6.5x55
Or you could just get a good ole Marlin turdy turdy.
Oh and I almost forgot. I realy HATE MUZZLE BREAKS on anything. Exept maybe a 50 cal.

Well now, some people prefer wood and I don't blame them. Love the classic look of wood. When I lived farther north my guns with wood stock more than I do now. For the weather we have here, synthetic and stainless is more practical but still prefer the look of classic wood.

Only if it is finished with a high gloss.

Personal preference. I like the high gloss look, but prefer a nice grain wood stock any day over "plastic" for aesthetic value.

Wood is actually a better material for a stock than a lot of the cheap tupperware that most rifles come with from the factory. It is stiffer and more stable.
Now, if you want to get a good synthetic stock like a McMillan or Basner, that is an entirely different matter.

Currently shooting the custom Remington 700 in 308 thats in my sig. It looks a little different now, but basically the same.
Hopefully, in the next couple months it will be replaced by a custom in 6.5 creedmoor or 260 remington.

No problem finding ammo for .264 so far. Haven't bought any ammo lately.

SS Browning X-Bolt in .308. I shoot it because it's one of the sweetest shooting rifles I have ever owned. My Dad just bought a Ruger M77 in 6.5x55 and I'm trying hard to get it off him. That thing is badass! It's got plenty of pop with hardly any recoil at all

Love wood furniture on a rifle. Not very practical, but think it looks much nicer.

I shoot an old boring Winchester Model 70 300 mag. Got a great deal on it last year. Synthetic stock with a newly added Monarch 4x16x50. Hunt a huge cut-over, thus the 4x16.
