it was a really nice one that would have been a great heirloom but youth and stupidity got in the way.

Model 70 Featherweight in .270
Bedded, free floated and trigger worked by the former US Army Marksmanship Team gunsmith.

Got laid off for third time in four years at my old job so something had to go.

I rue the day I sold that tackdriver.

An M1 Carbine I had in high school. Left it with my dad because I always heard from him "you never sell your guns..." so I thought it was safe.

I guess his philosophy only applied to 'his' guns and not those of his kids. Lost my 10/22 during the same trade.

.30 M1 Garand
.357 Colt King Cobra
Though I feel justified in my reasons, there is a cold, black space in my self esteem for not finding another avenue for revenue besides parting with those gems for money.
They can both be replaced but... it will never be the same. I have broken my own heart.

On the bright side... I will buy me a new hunting rifle soon!

My first rifle was a Model 94 30-30 that dad gave me when I was about 14. I traded it along with $100 for a model 70 when I was in college. I wish I had paid cash and kept both guns.

I sold a bunch for my step grandfather in law last year because he had medical issues and was on his last leg. He didn't want his his wife to have to deal with then once he passed, so he got me to sell them.

If I had the job I have now last year, I would've bought most of them from him.

Never sold a gun, but I did give my dad a shotgun I had won for a retirement gift. Don't regret it at all.

Yeah, I was more than a little hacked off when I found out. But in reality, I hadn't missed it during the 15-20 years it was in storage. He and mom went through a tough spot and I did end up with his sweet 16.

If it was a time of need and it's been in storage that long that's understandable but I'd hope he asked beforehand.
