Here in FL the moment it escapes its enclosure/high fence it’s an invasive species and not regulated. In other words; it can be harvested.

To that end; if I knew where it came from I’d probably shoot the owner a message before declaring open season.

Ive got a buddy that killed a huge 5x5 Elk in Delhi LA. He had escaped from the local Safari Park. Not only was it legal, the game wardens put out an APB on all the escaped animals and encouraged the public to shoot them. Some othe baw bagged a nice Zebra

A friend of mine was sitting in his bow stand in east Texas piney woods, and a bull elk walked out. He shot him with quickness! Filled his freezer.

I was going to say, they might want people to shoot the non-native species instead of letting them roam.

Guy I know shot a small Elk on a management area that got out. GW told him, that's some good eating right there. If their not native to Louisiana, we don't have a season or regulations on them, shoot em'

I have had axis and oryx. Both are spectacular table fare. Even so, on no day would I throw out any whitetail I had.

I had a red stag show up on camera years ago. Contacted WL&F and they told me I could shoot it any time, day or night, as they arent regulated.

Here in the Big Bend of Florida we had a couple Elk escape a High Fence.
I'm on a Dog hunt club..and them Dog hunters were sure suprised when Elk came running out in front of the dogs.
The Elk lasted about a weekend...

There’s nothing concrete on the books in MS, other than MDWFP defers to the state board of animal health. The only thing they say about it is that the owner of a non-native cervid is required to report an escape, and “any such animal shall be treated as an escaped wild animal and may be disposed of accordingly.”

Clear as mud, wtf is an escaped wild animal? Axis have been seen near my lease, and I’m shooting if I see one.
